Guys! I tweetered this the other day and lurved the responses so much I gotta blog it. Know how one of the best ways people tell other people about theirselves is through they're blog music? Even though my playlist is awesome and says alot about me and my hip taste, some of my e-besties are all, its time to change the song's.

Suggestions pleeeze!

Keep in mind, I like awesome.

  1. Hmmm.... Something by Archie or the Cookster? What about Miley's latest single, "Party in the USA?" (nodding your head--swinging your arms--shaking your hips *in a totally modest way*)

  5. Anything Julie de Azevedo {Window to His Love, Pray For Rain, EFY stuff} will totally remind JJTW of his awesome mission!!! EVERYBODY listens to her/me on their mish cuz I'm one the few chicks under 50 who write/sing spirtchul music that some mission prezs will allow.

  6. More Colbie Caillat. And David Archuleta. And don't feel like you have to give up on Taylor Swift just because we all hate it! Those three artists are pretty much my little sister's entire listening repertoire, and you should listen to her.

  7. I rlly miss the Backstreet Boyz. How about "Quit Playing Games with My Heart?"

    ReplyDelete
  8. You should totally do a retro theme and have your prom song and other special songs from high school. It'll be like a TAMN scrapbook for our ears!!!

Either that or all Taylor/Miley, all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Your music is sooooo last year. I thought TAMN was MUCH more hip than this.

  10. I think you should do either an all IDOL playlist (only Kelly, Carrie, Jordin, David, etc.) OR an all LDS artist playlist (David Archuleta, Brooke White, Julianne Hough, the Killers, JPL, Christina Aguilera (her grandma was LDS), Jewel (raised LDS) -- you know LDS by association...

  11. I like L.Jo's idea. A little 2000s flash-back would be fun.

    ReplyDelete
  12. What about the Tab Choir. I mean, don't you want this blog to reflect your spirtuality and such.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yay for GLEE!!! I second Party in the USA!

    ReplyDelete
  14. how about some Death Cab for Cutie since they're on the New Moon soundtrack and that's SO awesome?

OR prove your excitement for New Moon to come out in 40 something days (no one is counting) and play a kick back to the Twi Soundtrack... Bella's Lullaby?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I just thought of Popular from Wicked!!! What could be more appropriate?

  16. halo by beyonce...nuff said

  17. I'm TOTALLY sure a WAY COOL and RYCHUS woman like you has a GOL DARN good spirichal feel for the songs that have been SUPER overplayed lately! It doesn't make them annoying or cliche--NO NO; the more you listen to COOL songs, the COOLER you are!! You should even ADMIT humbly that you were listening to it before it was cool (that makes people think you MADE it cool!).

I already totully want to BE you!

  18. Hot 'n' Cold by Katy Perry.
Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World
Will I wait for you from Saturday's Warrior
Every Time we Touch by Cascada
    anything by OneRepublic

  19. Holy moly you run in the big leagues, girl. With a personal plug from Julie de A., how can you say no???

Who's next, Sally de FoRd?! BAH!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'm not from Zion but to me nothing says "I'm from Zion" more than having Jericho Road on your playlist!!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Why do you want to put music on the blog?? It is sooo annoying! If my sound is turned on and I go to a site with music....I always turn my sound off.

However...putting music on here is sooo you! Here are some suggestions:
    1. I Gotta Feeling--Black Eyed Peas
    2. Down--Jay Sean ftr. Lil Wayne
    3. Party In the USA--Miley Cyrus
    4. You Belong With Me--Taylor Swift

    ReplyDelete
  22. I second any picks from recent Glee episodes. They are all the rage in the blog world, haven't you heard?

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm not sure you could handle real awesome. So, sorry, I have no suggestions for you :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Owl City - Fireflies
Miley - Party in the USA

    ReplyDelete
  25. I would go with John Mayor, Archie, and Colbie

    ReplyDelete
  26. Your new music is ok, (good thing you have a Glee song on there, LOL!) BUT. What us Mia Maids listen to right now is all top-10 hip hop that is all dirty yet clean. (just like how there are modest bikini's). Hope that helps you become a little more hip, but don't worry you're sooo hip already:]

PS "darling" is pronounced like DAR-lingg. Make sure you really exaggerate the "g" at the end, so it's almost like you're saying "dar-link", but not really!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. If you put yawny hymns on your playlist that means I can only visit your blog on Sundays.

And that wouldn't be good at ALL.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think you should give a shout out to LDS artists and play some Donny Osmond and The Killers. Maybe some Hilary Weeks too.

    ReplyDelete
  29. RUH ROH. i'm looking at your playlist.....and uh, call me crazy, but have you pulled JJWT's cell phone records lately? OR maybe you already HAVE!! :X

Maybe you should add Pink's latest: Please, Don't Leave Me.

    ReplyDelete
  30. You meant to put the word "to" in between the words people and tell in the second sentence. I'm thinking that was perhaps a truly unintentional convention error, not just one done to mock the simple-minded and/or grammatically lazy.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I can't believe your songs are not ALL halloween themed? Did you for get to change your wreath and put up cobwebs and fake an real pumkins an mini pumkins all over the place inevery corner too?!!! It seems like your not trying. Are you depressed? Your sign is awesome though.

    ReplyDelete
  32. also I can't believe you haven't had "my lipgloss is poppin my lipgloss is cool" song. seriously, cause that is what the song says over and over again.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hullo?! WICKED!

    ReplyDelete
  34. omgosh... blog music is WAYYY annoying. I think my music is more awesome than everybody so I have to turn theirs off when I go to their blogs or it TOTALLY ruins my meticulous itunes playlist.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Since SOOOO many ppl visit your blog daily it would be a good idea to switch it up so you can show ALL aspects and sides of your hip-ness and taste for la musica. either way....do it to it!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Have you checked out the Glee cast soundtracks on i-tunes? Their Journey cover of Don't Stop Believin' is awesome. Oh, and don't worry about changing all of the songs. I keep adding to our playlist and just put them on shuffle. That way people aren't hearing the same songs each time they see the blog.

    Love reading your blog!

  37. I have marinated on this all night and I have it!

Darling totally sounds like that big fat Hawaiian dude singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".

    Its the DEFINITION of darling.

  43. Thriller is a way awesome way to celebrate Halloween and memorialize Michael.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Love you, but the music is really awful. Miley and Britney are bubble-gum c**p for 15 year olds. Either turn off the music entirely, or find something more sophisticated. You're not a teenybopper anymore. XOXO -- D.

    ReplyDelete
  45. The Mollies!

    www.myspace.com/themolliesmusic

I'm pretty sure they even have a spooky song....

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oops! It just occurred to me that the music is part of the satire; therefore the music is supposed to be as banal, inane, and provincial as possible. Okay, then. Rev up Kelly and Miley. And Archie. Sooooo adorable!!! Totally !!! XOXO - D.

  47. Hey, I liked the Taylor Swift, maybe because the only place I heard it was on TAMN's blog!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Super freak. SHe's super freaky... She's a super freak!

  49. You should put on the twinsies favorite Primary songs!

  50. Ummmm....that "Big Fat Hawaiian Dude" is Israel Kamakawiwo'ole AKA Brother Iz.

  51. There is a real, actual CD out there called "Janice Kapp Perry's Celtic Variations." I dare you to find it. Puts most other inspirational fluffrock to shame.

  52. I love that you misspelled an abbreviation.

    By way the, eh?

    ReplyDelete
  53. I'm rilly surprised not to see Peter Breinholt or Ryan Shupe. Hello? Did you never go to EFY or any outdoor concert in Utah in the last fifteen years?

    ReplyDelete
  54. I actually wanted to comment on your poll TAMN. I know that in Zion the more kiddies you have, the more righteous you are, but you should definitely be done having kids by thirty. Thirty is enough kids, tops. :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. You know. It is getting closer to Christmas. We need to get in the mood. I think you should do some Christmas tunes.

    ReplyDelete
  56. You make me ashamed that I have a playlist on my blog. Also, ashamed that I sometimes blog why I chose to post that song that week.
    I'm officially a loser. :(

Can I please take comfort in the fact that I'm NOT a Mormon MOMMY blogger, and in fact am a sinner because I graduated from BYU sans husband and am now in law school, on the EAST COAST?

    Redemption... please?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Did you mean "btw" or am I missing another acronym?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Gotta have THRILLER for Oct. then anything you have ever sung to on the radio, recorded in a real recording studio, sung by you. They have these great recording studios in Orem that all my friends go to when someone says they did a good job at the last fireside...

    ReplyDelete
  59. So glad you axed! I was getting a little vomitous everytime I heard the same Taylor song whenever I checked in.
I'm all about righteous hip hop. Let me know if you find any!

  62. everyone knows that all young(ish) LDS women are always looking for that next big thing before their neighbors find it just so they can already be "in-the-know" when it finally becomes mainstream, whether it be music, fashion, food, crafts, etc. it reinforces their superiority. you need indie and "underground" artists, ones that aren't quite mainstream yet, but will be soon. or even better, never go mainstream, officially making you a music connoisseur who appreciates true musical talent, not the rubbish churned out for the mindless masses.

lykke li, uh huh her, little boots, santigold, the ting tings, mgmt, kerli, feist, olivia broadfield, sofi bonde, passion pit, kate havnevik and sia are worth looking into to name a few.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I love your survey about being done having kids by thirty tops. I wish I had a dime for every LDS woman I've heard say this. I'm 30 and not done, so I guess I'm in the "gross" category. I am curious about what those people really think is gross about having kids after 30.

  64. beyonce's single ladies. definitely. to remind the other guys in your life that they missed out on a golden opportunity when they didn't want to fork over serious moolah to buy exclusive rights to TAMN with a kick-a diamond.

    ReplyDelete
  65. OMG TAMN, since i'm ur bestie thats livin the hip life going 2 college take my advice! Play the new stuff that's like just barely out!-Fallin 4 You by Colbie C. . Selena Gomez stuff, cuz she's so funny. Some old goodies like Jesse McCartney's song w/ Ludacris. And of course my gurl Miley. :)

    ReplyDelete
  66. Vickism9, I love how you include MGMT, Santigold, and Feist among "non-mainstream" artists. It's so cute.

It reminds me of an interview I read where some actress said she loved this "little band called The Postal Service, which not many people have heard of." Um, sweetie, everyone has heard of them.

TAMN would never love anything non-mainstream. Weird!

  67. Jonas brothers, or any other band that the guys wear girl pants. I mean that's HOT!!

  68. Aah, take it off shuffle, please! I want to be able to pick the song I listen to. Thanks!!

  69. julia-
thank you for pointing out something i'm already very aware of. i do know that those groups are quite well-known by most, but since her blog is a satire directed mostly at LDS women in UTAH, i've found that many in that state have yet to be exposed to even the more well-known of the list i provided. for instance, when "the ting tings" were barely beginning to get airtime on the radio stations in utah (maybe around 5-6 months ago) their US- released single had already reached played-out status on the coasts and other areas of the country, obviously not to mention the UK. it all just depends on the specific group that is being discussed, and in this case it's women in the US state of utah.

i'm surprised by how long the knowledge of certain artists remains dormant with large groups of people, even though their music has been around for sometimes years already, being featured in films, television series, and commercials, as is the case with mgmt or kerli, as well as most of the other artists i listed.

your comment is completely correct, but then again, so is mine. it just depends on the angle. there was no need to patronize me.

  70. Defiantly Jonas Brother's and Mika. (not the Mika one that swares.) But Taylor Swiff is good too.

  72. I totally agree with Julie De Azevedo. She is like the hottest super-spirichual singer and basicly every elder on the mish was in love with her. I know JJWT was torally crushin on her in Brasil/Chile/Arhentina/Mehico. "Pray for Rain" totally takes me back to the mission, but it also takes me forward to the fall cuz it totally rains in the fall, and my wife can where her knew rain boots that I bot her for our 2 week anniversry yesterday cuz we're sooo in love. She is super excited about them. But also, pretty much every preggo blogger knows that "Better Together" is like the most romantic thing. Every blog has this song if the couple is really in love. My wife has it on her new baby blog, and we don't find out for like forever if she is even preggo yet.

    ReplyDelete
  73. How awesome that Julie De Azevedo is commenting on your blog? She's a total celebrity!

  74. Did you decide already? Because you TOTALLY need some NEW FRESH HIP music on their like your YA's like n helps motivate you during those bad workout moments when you're trying to force yourself through the 19th mile of your 20-mile run, or the second consecutive yoga/pilates/cardio-weight training sessions! Sounds like you rilly need the Black Eyed Peas!! But not there yucky, frowny naughty songs, but the good, inspirational, I'm-better-than-you in a motivated way! Like "Boom Boom Pow" (LOVE when she says "I'm so 3008, your so 2000 and LATE!") or "I Got A Feeling" like what was on Oprah.
