brains storm!

Hi guys! Sorry I haven't blogged in FOREVER! I've bin thinking it's time to start a new shop or STUFF-BLOG or etsy shop or design blog or something HIP, and that it needs a seriously catchy but edgy hip vintage name for uniqueness.

Let's use the formula! A chosen-at-random color or other adjective {really anything at all} then an arbitrary noun totally unrelated to my shop or theme, prefribly a fruit or flower.

Cute right??

Here are some idizz so far:
The Vintage Daffodil

The Sassy Hobo

The Soulful Polkadot

The Gifted Plum

The Flirty Owl

The Turquoise Pomegranite

The Hip Iris

The Pensive Pauper

The Cupcake Fedora

The Jealous Polaroid

The Delicious Lovely

The Dancing Strawberry

The Crafty Rockstar

The Vested Bestie

Hrmmm. Those are darling but somethings' missing. Maybe I should add "boutique" or "couture" on the end to show I'm legit.

  1. LOL! Eerily true.

The Soulful Polkadot? The Gifted Plum??

    HAHA!

I'll never be able to pick a favorite.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Definitely The Jealous Polaroid Boutique. Fan-frickin'-tastic.

    ReplyDelete
  3. WOW.

You have this subculture pegged so well it's freaky. The Vested Bestie about killed me.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I would buy all my product from The Jealous Polaroid for sure!

If you wanted to add something else to the name, be sure it has extra vowels like shoppe or towne. That is s sErIoUs symbol of classe!

What about adding a traditional sounding british name? Like The Hawthorne Corduroy Shoppe? Or BESTEST YET! CrEaTiVe SpElLiNgS! This is a talent we know you already have and should totaly mag.ni.fY. The Winthrope Wyndow? The Seacrit Smyle?

TAMN, you are truely the most creative ever.

    ReplyDelete
  5. TAMN! You changed your font and your blog isn't cutesy! I don't think it's rilly you! (Meanwhile, TAMN imposter, my favrit is The Sassy Hobo! It's an oxy moron! And also you could sell Hobo bags!)

    ReplyDelete
  6. Any of those names scream legit. You don't even need to have stuff to sell, just a sign that says "Site under construction; check back soon" Then you could make up some cute/sassy business cards to hand out to all your friends. (But tell them your so busy with the twinners you haven't had time to make anything darling yet.

    ReplyDelete
  7. TAMN, if you want to be really chique, you need allterashun-
    The Paisley Polkadot Princess
    Crowned Crabapple Couture
    The Frownsmile Fashion Fairy
    Plaid Peacock Pomegranites
    Darling Damask Designs

Or you could name your shop after a random string of trendy baby names:
    Sweet Layla Marie Ava Sophia
    Miss Chloe Ella Olivia Grace

I'm sure whatever you come up with will be so cute it will make our idizz look frumptastic. Can't wait to buy headbands/burpcloths/jewelry/tutus from you TAMN!!!!

  8. the sassy hobo made me snort.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I think the Jealous Poleroid is already taken

    ReplyDelete
  10. you need another word in there...

I am going to switch some around here:

    The Soulful Hobo's Daffodil Place

    ReplyDelete
  11. The delicious lovely couture shoppe! You have to spell it the British way too.

    ReplyDelete
  12. i vote for the flirty owl. so hip.

    ReplyDelete
  13. "The gifted plum Boutique" is just plain classy!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. my vote is for flirty owl couture. you are SO right about needing to end it with boutique or couture. what are you going to sell??

    ReplyDelete
  15. The cupcake fedora! I love it! Use that one....

    ReplyDelete
  16. How about:

    The Shabby Apple

    Oh wait...

    ReplyDelete
  17. How bout Shabby Apple? Oh snap! That was alridy taken by one of your advertisers. Biting the hand that feeds the twinners, eh?

    ReplyDelete
  18. The Gifted Plum Galleria?

    The Cupcake Fedora Emporium?

The Delicious Lovely, however, is perfect as-is.

    ReplyDelete
  19. don't start with "the" and I like gifted plum or jealous polaroid.

    ReplyDelete
  20. K, hun, I need to give ya some advice. Make sure you sell soemthing someone taught you for free at a church class--you know, something easily duplicated and super easy ta do. Don't give yourself frumpy lines on yer face from acshully designin' something.

    ReplyDelete
  21. the soulful polkadot has my vote!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I could go on and on about ALL of those names! They are TERRIFIC! Wait??? Are they copyrited? Lynzii is prolly stealing one rite now!!!

    STOP HER!!!!

I'll siriusly by whatever you sell. I'm shure it's gonna be great!!! With a name like that, who cares whats in the box???

    ReplyDelete
  23. Any time you can misspell words to be "cute" (like anything that says, "Kidz Nite"), you know you're on to SOMEthing! A good way to misspell things if you don't already know how is by using a "z" instead of an "s" and a "k" instead of a "c." Or, you can always add extra "u's" and "e's" so that you look British (or Canadian). So coole!

But do be careful-- you may lose half your ads if you're making fun of them! (And THEN you might have to drink Shasta-- horrors!)

    ReplyDelete
  24. This is a difficult decision...but I would have to say The Sassy Hobo, for sure. There is nothing better then a sassy hobo, it creates a special image.

    ReplyDelete
  25. hahahaha!

ballsy, TAMN, and I like it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. How about The Sugar Witch? Then you could be a bit naughty, too.

    ReplyDelete
  27. turquoise pomegranite gets my vote. and make sure it's a "fashionista" blog too. that would be TOO DARLING tamn, TOO DARLING.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Have you considered using "Shoppe" it just sounds expensive.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I would so shop at the sassy hobo.

    ReplyDelete
  30. OoOoOoOoOohhhH! If you do start an e-store, can you please enter your stuffs in the giveaway!?!

    ReplyDelete
  31. the pensive pauper is pretty dynamite. and there's something real catchy about the vested bestie.

i'd try to give you my input on a super-hot name, but i'm not quite sure what you're even talking about...

    ReplyDelete
  32. TAMN,
You didn't even use "rust" for ANYTHING. Rust shows how vintage-y and classic you truly are with your array of trendy bows, headbands, bibs, blankets and tutus. This is a fundamental element. I'm thinking Rusty Shamrock/lily/daisy/tomato/zuchini.

    ReplyDelete
  33. TAMN knows what arbitrary means?

    ReplyDelete
  34. What about The Chubby Prune?

    Too Yvette?

    ReplyDelete
  35. I love them all! But not only should you sell super vintage flashy overpriced handmade stuff...you should do tutorials showing off your awesome homemaking skills, like how to make an upholstered headboard or make wheat bread.

    ReplyDelete
  36. TAMN.

    YOU are a Hip Iris.

    I heart you girl.

    ReplyDelete
  37. So it this really you? Plain Jane font. Big words. Words spelled correctly.

    I smell a hacker

    ReplyDelete
  38. oh my! just had this talk with my boss.. who designed a logo and such for his wife.

    just perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  39. 'the delicious lovely' last word is not a noun, and that's why it's my favorite, because it's the most original on this list.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Right on. Vested Bestie is killing me I love it so much.

    ReplyDelete
  41. O. M. Gosh. You're so right!!!!

My favorite has to be "The Sassy Hobo." Priceless.

Thanks, as always, for the laugh!! :D

    ReplyDelete
  42. love the soulful polkadot!
    my second choice would be
    the flirty owl
that would be such a cute logo!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Seriously, I'm stealing The Cupcake Fedora for my new dessert bar. It's nearly as awesome as its spiritual predecessor, the Bullet Fedora:

    http://farm1.static.flickr.com/172/475097416_4877bae7a5.jpg

    ReplyDelete
  44. The Dancing Strawberry ! Ooooh, sooo, totally adoooorable! Baaaahhhh! You can create the most precious, darling logo from that name and print it on the cutest bizness cards EVAR. I wish I would of thought of that name first. XOXO, D.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I love Liz's idea--the Frownsmile Fashion Fairy. Perfect!

And Token asian Friend's Chubby Prune idea made my day. Love it!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I am kind of digging the names Turquoise Pomegranite and Jealous Polaroid. You could do so much with those and they all make sooo much cents!! TAMN you are so good at coming up with names for your shop, I could have never thought of those unique slash funky names.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Nothing better than the Vested Bestie Boutique.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oh, TAMN!! You get me every time!

    Vested Bestie for sure.

    Gifted Plum... close second!

    ReplyDelete
  49. How about "The Delicious Lovely Sassy Hobo's Cupcake Fedora"?

Too many words, maybe. But those three are my favorite, and thrown together they just sound like something really entertaining.

    ReplyDelete
  50. How about the Ditzie Daisy?

    ReplyDelete
  51. {cupcake fedora}
    by TAMN

    or
    tamn's vESTed bESTie

And again, your accuracy is frightneen! Love it!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Cupcake Fedora Couture all the way! Cupcakes are so in, too.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Do it in French. And, instead of Jealous Polaroid, say The Polaroid Jealous. Or Le Polaroid Jaloux. So existential and insightful. Just like you TAMN!

    ReplyDelete
  54. If you name it The Soulful Polkadot, I will buy it, no matter what it is. Just because I want bragging rights to say I bought something from a Soulful Polkadot.

    ReplyDelete
  55. lol the sassy hobo, the cupcake fedora

    ReplyDelete
  56. Oh em gee...frighteningly accurate. Are you secretly a sociologist?
and the part that is frightening, is that i might actually consider shopping at a place called the soulfull polkadot

    ReplyDelete
  57. I rarely laugh out loud, but this post got me. It is so accurate it's frightening. I have at least a dozen friends who are guilty of this exact thing. I can't even pick a favorite, they were all just too good. I'm still having a silent chuckle.

    ReplyDelete
  58. This is clearly some snippet of subculture that has bypassed the Mission Filled (or my corner of the Mission Pasture at least) entirely. What I like about these darleen names is that they sound like cute euphemisms for body parts that newlyweds would use to talk in top secret code to each other in Target. "Look if you're gonna try for some gifted plum tonight your flirty owl is going to need to spend more time with my hip iris, or this sassy hobo is not going to give you any dancing strawberry, if you know what I mean."
"Yeah, but I'm such a jealous polaroid when I see other guys looking at your cupcake fedoras"
"and another thing? Unless we're ready to multiply and replenish, make sure get some vests for you bestie"

Yup, you're on to something. Klassye.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I love the Vested Bestie!
I came up with this one:

The Colorful Pear. You like? It's legit right?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Oh. my. HECK. TAMN!! I have one word for you...T-SHIRTS!! Aaaahh, can't pick a fav, I want one of each =)

    ReplyDelete
  61. I pick the Polaroid one... It's so antique!

    ReplyDelete
  62. "The Delicious Lovely" sounds delectable. Please use!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Smile. I love that you said legit. That is fantastic. I am definitely on board with the turquoise pomegranite!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Call it the Dapper Dung Beetle and I WILL buy something.

    ReplyDelete
  65. "Vested Bestie" is fun to say. I also like the idea of a Frownsmile Fashion Fairy. It could be, like, the new fashion police, only more TAMN and fashionabler.

    ReplyDelete
  66. You continue to get things right on the nose. Just when I thought you can't get any better...you do. Love it.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Oh, wow, this is SO helpful--the only reason I've never created an Etsy account is that they say you'll be stuck with whatever name you choose forever, and what if down the road I decide to sell something but have the wrong name? (True story!) Can I steal any and/or all of these?

I'll be showing my age here, but, before Etsy (like, way back 8 or 9 years ago,) there was only "Custom boutique" children's clothing on eBay, replete with ruffles and chenille halter tops and "doo-rags," etc. At one point I considered throwing my own hat into the boutique selling ring, an my brother suggested the seller name "2Sexy4MyBaby." Catchy, huh?!

    ReplyDelete
  68. how ironic that an ad in your sidebar for THE SHABBY APPLE was RIGHT there by your list. lol.

    ReplyDelete
  69. "CrAfTy RoCkStAr CoUtOuRe"
    {for obvious reasons}

    You. Nailed. It. TAMN. Hilar!

    ReplyDelete
  70. TAMN, will you Pleeeeeeease write a book.

    ReplyDelete
  71. The Sassy Hobo ROCKS! I would totally e-shop there.

And Cupcake Fedora sounds like the name of an indie band, so that's cute-slash-trendy, too! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  72. Wait, so did you guys ever decide what JJWT was doing? Is he doing his intrenship or summer sells? Did you read his patriarticle blessing for inspiration?

Just wondering. Also, I found Lynzii on Facebook and her 17 albums of her darline babies are SO CUTE, but I don't see you or the twins. Is it because she's cuter than you [frownsmile]?

    ReplyDelete
  73. You should so do the Polka dotted pommagranate couture boutique!

    ReplyDelete
  74. The Jealous Polaroid Boutique gets my vote.

    ReplyDelete
  75. The Sassy Hobo and The Jealous Polaroid are my faves.

    ReplyDelete
  76. LOL @ Turgid Lily. Ha ha.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Adjectives? Nouns? What is this grammar school? Though I'm really in favor of the Crafty Rockstar.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Genius names! But what ever you do, don't forget to name your products after your own kids names. There is no better way to really show your true style than that.

    Question for you:
If you were to open an ETSY shop, what would you sell? Of course the baby boy department lacks uniqueness but even though the girl department is so saturated, how could you resist the cutesy girly stuff? You must be so torn. Is this question too hard?

    ReplyDelete
  79. My fave is: The Soulful Polkadot

Although, I tried this myself and came up with The Scrumptious Hamster (delish) which I really like. I might even us it myself!

    ReplyDelete
  80. I think you need a name that shows off your cuteness as well as your spiritual superiority such as:

    The Whimsical Sunbeam

    The Enchanted Beehive

Curtsy Tamn's Retro (CTR for short)

    ReplyDelete
  81. So many good ideas!

I agree with the need to remind others that you're a Saint. How about:

    Literally Lihoma
    Enrichment-Night-Barbie Boutique
    Everything-Emma Couture
    Mo Modest
    2 Pure 4 U & U & U, but not U
    Procreation Nation
    Flannel Cheesecake
    Just-Sayin Knee Skirts

    ReplyDelete
  82. Dacing Strawberry Boutique! So cute!
    I love them all! :)

    ReplyDelete
  83. Siriously, T-shirts. I would so buy those. Anddd I vote four the Soulfol Polkadot.

    Wear is your cute font?

    ReplyDelete
  84. Or you could open a little "shoppe" that serves the Utah Valley equivalent of the martini, and call it...Fast Sundae.

    ReplyDelete
  85. What about:

    The Aged (pronounced age-edd) Banana?

    ReplyDelete
  86. It is eerie how dead-on you are sometimes. I like the "dancing strawberry" or "sassy hobo".

    ReplyDelete
  87. I LOVE 'Soulful Polkadot' and 'Gifted Plum,'they say so much, with just so little...
    and I want t-shirts too!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Now I can't stop thinking about this!

I want to open a little store in Draper called "Peace and Plenty." Is that seriously darling?!? I'll sell all the things I know how to make: princess dresses, plaid jumpers, high-potassium cookies, dog treats... Well, those four things. That's all I can make. But, still, fun... Maybe someone has already used that name. I hope not.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Hahah some of those names are actually pretty crafty. The Jealous Polaroid, fab.

    ReplyDelete
  90. How about Yesterday's Cookie???

    ReplyDelete
  91. Do you think Shabby Apple Dresses are going to pull their advertising from your blog? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  92. Since when did "cupcake" become an adjective?

    ReplyDelete
  93. I will buy whatever you sell. It is about time you get onboard with the rest of those normans!!!

    ReplyDelete
  94. Let the babies write a post! You know you know what I'm talking about...

    ReplyDelete
  95. i like your first one, the Vintage Daffodil. for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I've got it! The Dancing Strawberry Boutique Shoppe!

    ReplyDelete
  97. hahahahahha.
this is my favorite post of all time.
    beautiful.
i would FOR SURE go with, the sassy hobo.
    pure brilliance!

    ReplyDelete
  98. TAMN, when did u get so smart? adjEcTivEs? ArBitRarY? AnD openin you're own shoppe?!? You R my HeRo girl! :)

    ReplyDelete
  99. the poutin' petunia

    the rustic relic

    ReplyDelete
  100. i totally agree w/ someone above - hacker post. arbitrary? adjective? noun? no enlarged words?? where's your voice TAMN??

    But.

You should start an etsy shop. it's a good idea. i'm sure you're so crafty. i bet you could sell giant hair bows and head bands w/ ginorm gerber daisies by the dozen. too cute!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Ahh Mhana...I always love your comments. That seriously cracked me up.

    ReplyDelete
  102. What you're missing is alliteration. Pensive Polkadot ... Crafty Cupcake ... matchy letters ups the cuteness factor the level you're looking for!

    ReplyDelete
  103. I know I'm late, but I am kind of diggin on The Crafty Rockstar. I have been making my hubby call me that all day just to try it out. He is just glad he can stop calling me 'Ma'- Trek is the best!
    Love you!
