the sky is literally falling

You guys, I do NOT say this lightly but am seriously ready to swear and cry and just take off my boots in dispair! Just don't understand why life keep's throwing rotten lemons at me. Even typing this gives me a serious bummer but this is my journal, and you do exist to validate me, so here goes everything.

deep breathe~ing...

JJWT just

got laid off
got fired
got let go
was terminated

moved on from his kickA dream law/biz/med/dental job. This means he is currently as of yesterday pre-employed.

Shrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriek out NOT in a good way!!!! As in this does NOT normally happen to hotties. I kept my end of the deal by not getting fat!!! Hubby's part is to be loaded!! That is doctrine!!!!! If even WE have a problem these MUST be the last days!!!!!! Why are the economies so mean??

This is seriously effecting me and my needs. My worse nightmare's all the sudden coming true: not only did I gain my first pregnancy pound today, also JJWT is getting all boring and serious and acting like wants and needs are "different" and it is getting wierd. It's like I don't even know him anymore!! He's talking crazy, like, might not even let me go to fetal photo's this week and could end up not waiting til the actual doctor appt to find out what we're having, sad. What is this, the great repression??? next thing you know I'll have to shop at thrift stores instead of just thrifting there.

:(

So sorry. It would be horribly embarrassing to have to use your food storage, butt everything is going to be okay.

You poor thing TAMN! What if you end up having to get a *gasp* 2D ultrasound? I mean, the doctors do what they can for poor people...

jdb in AZ said...

TAMN, as JJWT's eternal companion, it's your duty to "provoke him to good works" so why would you allow him to be pre-employed like that?

Since you're already sent out 100 invitations to the fetal photo party and everybuddy is bringing a righteous baby gift, it doesn't make sense to cancel at this point. An at-home ultrasound is so much more fun than finding out the baby's sex life at the dr's ofc. after all. The ultrasound tech who makes house calls will take as long as necessary to get the kiddo to uncross its modest legs and display its privates to 100 of your closest friends.

You mean your dad kicked him out of the family business? I think you need to give your dad a talking to...

Haven't been on in a while but saw the FB link to this and .... wow.... the great "repression" nearly made me spit my vanilla Dr. Pepper all over my computer - thanks for being tuned in :)

I love you, TAMN. Somehow this post made me feel like me and my family will always be okay. :)

P.S. Sorry about the pregnancy pound. That's super gross.

I thought JJWT worked for your dad. Whose side are you taking?

Colt said...

He has to be so mad at all the Obamunists.

TAMN!!!! You seriously need to set up a paypal donation button so we can all help you out this christmas. I just can't imagine you and Alivyah going without your weekly mani-pedis, that would be like completely sad, like you didn't have a christmas at all!

THIS IS NOT FUNNY! YOU HAVE TAKEN IT TOO FAR!!

(I don't really think that. I love this post. I just wanted to be the first one to get offended since I'm sure people will say something like the above.)

love you, girl. hang in there. you can get through this. it's nothing a credit card or two or three or four can't fix.

"Why are the economies so mean??"

Oh, that is priceless.

Unknown said...

I'm with Kris, there's no shame in racking up a huge amount of debt on a credit card. As long as it's platinum. It totally helps the economy, and then JJWT will get a new job quicker, and then you'll pay them off for the rest of your life like nothing ever happened. Don't change a thing!

Brooke said...

Wait ... why would wants and needs be different?

First Thanxgiving with the fake family ( how smart of you to get out of that), then the canceled hair appointment and now this?! OH hony your trails will only prove what a richous and great saint you are. Rember, the last days are saved for those who are the most valent and hot or somthing, so dont get lost in poor people dispare. That would be Satan trying to get at you. Make sure you tell hubbers that in order to stay richous you HAVE to use the credit cards and if he loved you he would support you in getting all celeschal and all.

Oh, Tamners! My hart about broke to read this tragic news! I agree with Kim: now is the time to slap a paypal button on this site, stat, so that your readers can pay for your unfortunate choices. Be sure to post pictures of the cute things you are buying at Anthropologie and secret cool-girl stores while simultaneously asking for help. Or get a company to start sponsoring your blog, in return for you gushing about their products.

Maybe you could sell a wretched crafting item in an Etsy store, and get your followers to blog about how 'cute' your stuff is?

Does Lynzzi's husband still have a job? I bet he can still support her 3-a-week mani/pedi habit. Hmmm..... balance of power, shifting. Poor, Poor Tamners.

JUST STAY HOT!!! and everything will work out. I think it was the Lord who said that, but it might have been Joseph Smith. They both want you to stay hot, it's just a trail of your faiths! Love you!

Oh TAMNers, you suffer all your trials with so much grace. We all have to be tested, but someone as pretty as you just doesn't deserve this! Just think of the blessings you will get, and its all prolly in preparation to call you as the Bishop's wife! Better give JJWT the heads up!

Stefanie said...

JJWT needs to reach out to all his Mission companions and friends from MTC. Someone will help him get a new J.O.B.! Thank the lord you have temple recomends. That always puts you first in line for the kick A jobs. Try not to stress Tamners! I've heard lots of stress can make a fetus be born.........BALD! Go get a mani-pedi and hope for the best.

FuneralPotatoes is so right! and even when your debts begin to climb you take those generous donations and buy a new couch from Alice Lane, or Serena ans Lily. Because you deserve it!!

Hahaha! Great post.

Wow, and right before Christmas, too! At least you won't have to worry about how much you're spending on gifts because you already bought them on Black Friday, right? (But you didn't shop on that day to save money, you did it because it's the trendy thing to do, right?)

Hang in there, hun. At least you haven't moved in with his parents yet.

Frau said...

It's OK to vent about this because 1) It's your journal and 2) If you make lemonade out of rotten lemons than you have hard lemonade and that's against The Plan.

If you open up your scriptures (don't worry, just Genesis which isn't very symbolic) you will read the account of Abraham and Issac. The lesson we get from that is that God gives us trials, but they aren't real trials, just pretend ones. At the last minute he'll say, "Just kidding!" and take the trial back.

So don't try and fix your trial because the world will tell you to "budget" and him to "network" or "retool" his resume. But that's tampering with God's will. You need to embrace your trial and keep shopping because only that way will you suffer as much as you need to before God takes the trial back.

But it is a sign of the time. My friend had to get a (whisper) job. Can you believe it? Her last two babies are in high school and she had to abandon them during the day when they're at school. And that's in ADDITION to doing her own housework on the 6000sq ft house that they couldn't afford three years ago and bought anyways. It's the only way they can keep making payments on their jet skis. They're just scared of how destitute they are.

Totally messed up my original comment! I meant to say that I, too, hate when life throws rotten lemons at me. Seriously, you CAN'T even make them into lemonade.

It sounds like you need some retail therapy, SRSLY. JJWT would want you to have nice things especially since you might be headed for the gutter. Plus more beautiful clothes=better mother!!!!!!

ll be totes sad when you start sharing your cafe rio salad not b/c you want to but b/c you have to!!

frau, I think I have a girl crush on you now, bwahahaha!!

Oh TAMN, my heart is just breaking for you. You and your precious eternal companion will be okay. The relief society will drop off a food box for Christmas dinner (eww, you'll have to cook the food yourself). The whole ward will give extra fast offerings this month. You've been paying your tithing, plus an extra 2% just in case.

It will all work out for the righteous. Then you'll have a heart warming story to share in testimony meeting for all of the other "pre-employed" not to lose hope. People will cry. Your hair will be awesome. The spiritual high will last for minutes.

Be Calm and Carry On.

True story: the other day I stopped at a thrift store, just to browse, and it was super crowded--I couldn't even find a shopping cart. And I was feeling sorry for the demographic who really have to shop there regularly. And then I went back to my car, and caught a glimpse of my frumpy reflection in my car's windows, and saw all my kids' litter and encrustations on the floor and seats of our 17-year-old minivan that I had just gotten back from being repaired, AGAIN, and I thought, "What? Who am I kidding? I AM the thrift-store demographic."

(And then I started wanting a new car.)

I'm not telling this story to elicit a sigh of compassionate understanding, but to make you feel better, 'cause you will NEVER be *that* demographic.

Oh TAMN, you can also blog about all the ADORABLE things you find at the thrift store while you're poor. Seriously.

Jewel said...

Wow. TAMN, does this mean that you no longer have the corner on best life ever? Or because your trials are so intense, you still have the best life ever because you have the most intense trials ever?
What a deep thought.
And Frau--wow. You are incredible. :)

I think there's a scripture in one of those tooled leather, embossed and picture highlighted books of yours that says "When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping" or "the tough go to self-imposed bed rest", or something like that.
But I thought your Dad opened a bank account for your little family and puts regular deposits in it... I thought everybody's Dad does.

So- maybe you'll have to actually eat some of that freeze-dried food storage that you only bought because it was expensive and easy. Let us know how that works out for you. Yummmmm!!!
I wish I was in your ward to hear your heart-wrenching testimony when this trail has passed.

Frau,
your comment made me laugh and feel embarrassed for humankind all at the same time. Well done.
No worries TAMN, your parents are still paying for everything for you right?

FRAU- this paragraph makes you my hero. I want to note, this also happened to Job. One of God's JUST KIDDING! moments. Tamni, you're almost like Job!! Donchoo worry, this trial will be revoked once God realizes how graceful you are in the face of trial. Plus. you're pregnant. Just carry on as normal.

Don't let JJWT confuse you with differences between wants and needs. That's like saying there's a difference between modest and modest bikini. He's just stressing. Whatever you do, do NOT look for a job yourself. My girlfriend did that after her hubby got economied. ::Shudder:: I can barely talk to her now. But, she doesn't have The Plan, so...
Thank goodness you're here for a perfect example of what to do when your husband is temporarily violating The Plan.

I have some really nice stuff like Valentino bags and Prada shoes from when times were good. I LIE. I tell folks they're FAKE made by underprivelgd kids in Asia.
