this little light of mine

Oh my SCARY! JJWT and I had to give talks today! I had everything all typed up, but when I went to print my talk off this morning the printer wouldn't work...! Meltdown! Soooo, I had to make due and just bring my laptop. And guess what? I forgot to turn it on before I got up so totally stood there in dead silence at the pulpit while it booted up...blech. So embarrassed!

Anyways, I got this awesome email fwd (Thanx, Lynzi!) last week that I decided to use as my theme, about how guidance ends in DANCE, so we dance with God and let him lead the way, get it? I'm obsessed with dancing so I had a total aha moment and just knew everyone else would love it too. BUT it was crazy hard because I had to introduce us too, and there is tonz to say about our happily ever after! I was super nervous but visualized peace. IT WORKED which was so neat since the universe had already sent me a great (and I mean GREAT) hair day! Jackpot!! I did awesome and barley even looked at my notes...so good!

JJWT did a better job, he's a natural speaker I swear, well, at least he WOULD of, but he didn't get a chance because I accidentally took up the whole meeting...whoopsydaisies! Too bad, but also way too good, because I started out by telling the so stinkin' cute story of how we met. When I said that I got engaged twice while JJWT was on his mish, which is a whole nother story, everyone looked so shocked slash interested that I just KNEW they needed some deets. By the time I finished, we were out of time and I hadn't even read the forward yet! Crazy! So, I skipped over all the poems from my cousin's EFY counselor and jumped straight to the fwd. Loved it, because it's seriously so true, when you look at "guidance" the G is for God, and then U and I dance with him. Get it? U AND I DANCE!! I LOVE stuff like that, simple yet profound both at the exact same time. Sort of like mine and JJWT's marriage (at least, that's what everyone says). So, church was cool, but I'm way bummed I'm not in your ward anymore, aren't you?!

Wow, you must have a really early ward! Does this mean you're extra righteous?

And I LOVE talks like yours. The talks about Jesus and the Spirit and stuff like that get so boring. I hope that you also tied "So You Think You Can Dance" into the dance with God, because that show makes me think about the atonement everytime I watch it.

Thanks for sharing the forward. It's definitely going into my talks file.

Even though you had to cut the EFY poems from your talk (total bummer), I'm glad you were able to have the EFY songs playing in the background as you spoke. Those songs are so inspirashonal.

It was a beautiful talk! I thought I was watching a Mia Michaels routine in WORDS!!!

I can't believe it! A whole nother talk on the GUIDANCE email! A Mia Maid gave the same talk last week and cried about what a lifesaver that email was during girls camp!

I never tire of hearing how you and JJWT met, so I'm sure everyone loved it! I really have missed you at church since you moved. The Elder's Quorum parties just aren't the same since we don't have you and JJWT here to start the water balloon fights that end in you two tickling and nuzzling in the grass. Seriously so sweet!

To the author of this blog I say, genius post. You definitely exist on a higher echelon of intelligence and intuitive observation.

Don't stop...ever.

(No sarcasm intended)

Speaking of skeery, this morning when I looked at that babystrology thang, it was lying on its back and somethang was sticking straight up and I thought, look it's a boy. But the thang kept growin and I decided (hoped!!!) that it's the umbilical cord. Really, that's just too creepy!

When your polls close, can you anunce the finul talleys? The other day when you mentioned baby names I thot that since your darling JJWT is in med school that if you have a boy you relly gotta call the goomer Helaman. Heal-a-man, get it? 8^)

XOXOXOXO

Wow. You're a great speaker. I remember when you visited our ward here in North Carolina a few years ago (to visit your new BFF from EFY) and you stood up to bear your testimony. You said how neat it was to be with us "out here in the mission field" and how great we were all doing, so far from Ziuhn. Keep it up!

i am so glad you told everyone all about your super interesting life over the pulpit, i think those are the best kind of talks. So fun! I hope you also remembered at the end to bear your testimony about your friends and how much you love them and what an AMAZING SUPPORT they are to you. Oh and also the gospel too i guess. Amen.

You have know idea how sad it makes me to no you aren't in my ward anymore. Release-a-siety just isn't the same withoutchoo.

Not to be rude or nothing but your baby kinda looks like a hearing aid.

I WISH I would have had that forward today... I had to teach in R.S. today and that would have tied in perfectly! I could have made little cards and tied bows on it and everything. Drat!

Wow, I am so happy I ran across your blog! I was in your young women's group and hearing about your talk reminds me of all the AMAZING testimonies you would give at girls camp. I was so inspired that I wrote everything you said in my girl's camp journal. Do you still have yours? I would love to hear your take on our so spiritual girl's camp experiences.

I would feel so blessed to be in your ward, what part of Utah county do you live in? Maybe, I'll move into your neighborhood just to be in your ward.

Wow, good thing you have a laptop and not a desk top. You totally would have one, though, because desk tops are for poor people. I bet everyone didn't mind that you had to start it up, because you looked so darn cute in that pink summer dress that no one could take their eyes off you!

the blog is getting old and even more bitter

Wasn't it a bummer that you couldn't use any visual aides? I'm sure they would have added an extra special touch to the spirit everyone felt while you spoke.

And I'm sure JJWT didn't mind at all that his incredibly sweet, talented wife was so carried away by the spirit that he never had the chance to utter a word. You ARE seriously, so blessed.

I'm not really bummed you're not in my ward anymore because your bestest best friend is, and she is totally
A-W-E-S-O-M-E! =)

Truth be told, I always secretly hated you because of your cute Sunday outfits and perfect hair. I'm sort-of glad you're not in my ward anymore because now I'm the cutest one.

I really miss having you in my ward. I loved being in Young Womens with you. Remember how you used to get up and bare your testimony like almost every Sunday, not just Fast Sundays. Like the Sunday after prom wasn't a fast Sunday or anything but after the closing prayer you ran up to the pulpit and told everyone to sit down because the spirit was prompting you to tell everyone about how great and moral your prom night was. You were still wearing your gorgeous and modest prom dress and your hair was in that way cute up-do with butterfly clips. Then later that day in YW everyone was talking about you and how inspired you were and how you looked so beautiful, like you were shining up there at the pulpit. Then Mandy said "you guys are such losers, she wasn't SHINING, it was her body glitter." But don't worry she was just jealous cuz she totally didn't get asked to prom. Anyway she's STILL single so whatever. love ya

hey, I heard ya moved to Daybreak! That is sooo cool cuz my son and his wife and their cute little boy live there too. We'll be able to hear your testimony when we visit. I can't wait to see you when you come to Pal again.

I know you get tons of people commenting, and I have never commented on a strangers blog, but seriously, WE are so blessed by your blog. I have emailed it to everyone I know and we love it. We are quoting lines, and you know you are good when you are getting quoted poolside. Thanks for lightening our load with this GEM of a blog!! Seriously, SO funny!! Thanks-

Hey Dasha, who the crap is Steph? Nice guess, but I'm almost positive she's NOT the author of this blog. It's a PARODY, not mean-spirited at all, and even the early saints had a need of entertainment. It's laughing at all of us and that's what makes it so funny. Let's all enjoy the humor and quit assuming we know who's coming up with it when we don't. Just sit back and enjoy the laughs...it's not at anyone's expense--the people are fake.

KT said...

Dasha is funny. Calm down, friend, most of us find this blog funny because we see a little bit of ourselves in it, and we're all comfortable enough to laugh at ourselves. I've told my husband I love him on my blog, I've posted pregnancy and ultra sound pictures, and I've posted wedding pictures, yet nothing here offends me because IT'S FUNNY.

KT said...

...and did you really post a quote from the Ensign? Really? Something in my gut tells me you're my father and I'm in trouble, and now I'm going to have to do research on some church topic for the next two hours as punishment for thinking this blog is so completely hilarious.

I am like SO sad that you aren't in my ward anymore. You totally missed the best EN last month. We made vinyl quotes for the walls and made our own Amish stars to decorate our living rooms. Too bad you aren't here or you could teach at next month's Super Sat... we're learning how to cut our hubby's hair! Cool, huh?

While you were gushing about your two engagments spittle was kind of coming out of your mouth. But don't worry it was totally cute, all sparkly and stuff. No one can spittle quite like you!

ooooh ! I totally love the widget with the $900 baby strollers. Everyone MUST HAVE a top of the line baby stroller with just the right brand name on it ! What a wonderful addition to your blog !

Seriously, don't just stay at home and squeeze out babies your entire life. Pretty soon you're dragging around in a ragged muu-muu and scuffed pedi because your 9th won't' stop spitting up on you !

Seriously, find a literary agent and DO SOMETHING with your writing gift. You would honor the Lord by becoming a writer. I am absolutely "serious" about that. XOXOX You new BFF.... D.

I think that as long as you said your talk in the "whisper spirit voice" that brings the spirit. Everyone enjoyed it. I'm almost sure you are going to get called to be the relief society teacher now. Fo sho!

Your talk today totally reminded me of all your great testimonies in seminary class where you said that friends always came first and you loved everyone in our class - even though you refused to make eye contact with me or learn my name - even though I really needed friends because I had just moved in! Such good memories...

SRA said...

I spoke in church yesterday too, but I am ashamed at how poorly I did on my talk compared to you. Not even worthy of holding half a candle to your talent and level of spiritchality.

PLEASE tell me the comment above me was a joke. Right? The "don't you have better things to do" statement is full of sweet, sweet irony and makes this blog even better. Don't YOU have better things to do? Ridiculing the writer for ridiculing others, eh? Whoever the genius writer is, s/he's not busting out personal insults and it's obviously all in good fun. I like it. If you don't appreciate it, you don't have to read it.

I am SO going to miss you being in my ward! I will miss when you get up in Fast & Testimony meeting to give us updates on your way fun life and all the vay-cays you go on. SAD!

Um. This post is about someone reading an email forward as a talk. Isn't that poking fun at people who DON'T take their religion seriously? Just a thought.

smith fam said...

Don't you think you should wait to post this until after church should actually be over - 8:31am is a bit early to discuss your talk in church when church hasn't even started yet (unless you are being punished with 8am, in which case you made this post and gave a talk all at the same time) - attention to details please...

Love the idea of bringing a laptop!

I think I'll have to do that next time.
