Anyway, so greatful for that little thing but def pumped for the double upgrade I get once the feti are here (made a deal that for each pregnancy I get something sparkly for my time and effort, and even though this is a twofer I'm totally inforcing double bling). Trying to focus on my left (looks like an L) hand during spin slash pilaties so I'll be buff enough to lug it around when the time comes. Plus, it's service, bc I want something nice to show the Mia Maids what can be theirs if they believe, CTR, and fast daily.
Anyways, like forty of my e-BFFs AND everyone in the wives club AND the other young womens advisers tagged me to do this way fun, way creative tag bc TAGS ROCK!
- Pick up the nearest book of at least 123 pages. Don't pick the coolest or most impressive one, just the NEAREST one.
- Open the book to page 123.
- Find the fifth sentence and post it!
- Spread this tag to as many people as you can.
Fun! But, SOOOOO embarrassing that it wasn't The Host or Babywise or The Rules, but I'm way honest so I'm stickeen w/ the NEAREST. And my nearest one was one of my personal faves, Chicken Soup for the Slender and Attractive Pregnant with Twins Latter-day Saint Wife of a Professional School Student Soul!
"Tagg mentioned the fondness and admiration members of his family feel as they reflect upon how faithfully his mom waited while his dad served his mission, and her remarkable level of dedication to the spouses' club during law and business school."
Even though they weren't blessed with TWINS, that's so true! Wonder what kind of ring ANN has! Great reminder to do my duty!
i tag YOU. Seriously. All of you. In the comments. Love you!

The one that looks like an L?
This blog is my fave.
Can I get a copy of that Chicken Soup book plz?
And here I thought it would be some church book because you're so much more righteous than I am! But of course it was your pregnancy book. That's definitely high priority.
"You look so serious." ... Maybe I picked up the wrong book, or maybe I need to lighten up! I guess it's because of finals next week at the Y of I..
The Mia Maids will definitely be impressed with your spirituality let alone your incredible strength lugging around that "push prize!" Hilarious!
Wow! The book I picked up was "How to Remain Humble When You're Super Hot, and Everyone Around You Is Not."
The 5th sentence is "It's hard but you just have to pretend."
Wise advice. Off to pretend that I'm not hot. I hope I can do it!!
i love it. you are hilarious.
"I had signed up for a twenty-five-dollar-a-semester aerobics class there last semester, after passing my employment probation, and had even shown up for one session."
I'm seriously not righteous for being a girl in engineering grad school, so here goes:
"Similar to national policy on air quality, the thrust of government action aimed at reducing petroleum consumption has been to focus on changes to vehicle technology (in this case, per vehicle consumption) by establishing fuel economy standards."
Urban Transportation Planning, second edition
:)
The frozen ground under my feet felt like frozen ground, which is strange because it normally feels like peanut brittle.
I'm first? I'm first, I'm first, I'm first!!!
I'm so excited that I forgot what I was supposed to do in the comment.
I am the first!
Math Success...Fourth sentence: Green peppers!
I am a resource teacher... ha ha.
OMG! The book nearest me is my pilates book! I totally carry it w/me all the times b/c I teach now and always want to be inspried. The 5th sentence on teh 123rd page is: "Your legs should resemble a pretzel shape." Kinda naughty, so I'm rilly sorry. I'm totally repenting right now and I think I'll fast too.
BUT after I go to the mall and get a pretzel and froyo!!
That's MY favorite too!
That's MY favorite book too!
"The knock startled me; the little box fell back into the suitcase."
ObViOuSLy!!!!!!!!
Is it totally wierd that all our books are audio? That way I can keep up on EVERYTHING while I hear the books I just don't have time to read! You should try it!
"The trial court found that the oral trust was invalid as an attempt to make a testamentary disposition without complying with required legal formalities, that the balance in the account at Nesbitt's death was part of his estate, that the payment to Price was improper, and gave judgment for the respondent."
I'm such a nerd and need seriously help, I know.
"Crying, being coy, and making verbal promises that are honey-sweet are all well known devices daughters can use to get their way and escape to unpleasant consequenses of their behavior." From "The Power of Positive Parenting". Of course, you already have this book memorized, so you already knew that.
if you are taggin the commenters then I cant comment cuz i am so far behind on tags it is sad....so i wasnt here okay?
"2x^2=4" ......math sucks.....it is totally not richus.
Stir in salsa and heat just until warmed.
In the Kitchen the Costco Way.
P.S. - SO great that you found a Chicken Soup book for your EXACT situation - AWESOME! I need to get a copy for all the preggo student wives in my ward - although none if them are double-blessed with the twofer!
P.P.S. - I feel SSB that you are posting so often while I am going thru some sirius trails over here - I totally need the laughs...I mean, the guydance. THNX!!!
"If your photographs are not successful, use those included here."
I dont read books that have 123 pages except the B.o.M. And even that I read on my palm pilot. Guess I cant play the game :(
"It could happen"
So profound!
I feel smarter and awesomer for doing this tag - thanks TAMN!
Aw man,l closest book was my super-BOARING English Literature book. Seriously should have majored in marriage and not English!
AND it's a super-long poem sentence:
"The prince, unable to coneal his pain,/Gazed on the fair/Who caused his care,/And sighed and looked, sighed and looked,/ Sighed and looked, and sighed again:/ At length, with love and wine at once appressed,/ The vanquished victor sunk upon her breast."
Ew, wine? Sounds like someone's not CTRing.
The closest thing to me is my Pediatric Nursing book. I know how unrichus I am for being in school after I got married...but at least I am learnin' about kids I will have someday!!
DEVELOPMENTAL MILESTONES (6-month-old infant)
"Personal/social: interacts readily and nosily with parents and familiar people; may be cautious with strangers"
I know you are totes smart TAMN, and you already knew this from all your great baby books!!
"Now the planners are asking their people not to blame the government, but to blame the depravity of the rich, because I turned out to be an irresponsible playboy, instead of the greedy capitalist I was expected to be." -Atlas Shrugged, Ayn Rand
"The impedance presented to this signal is then the differential impedance Zdiff = 2 x Z0o."
Printed Circuits Handbook, fifth edition.
"That was usually about when the screaming started."
BAAAAAAH for New Moon!!! Can't WAIT to see Robert Patternson do the smoldring look again!!
*SHRIEKS OF DELIGHT!!*
"We meet up with the rest of the District 12 crowd at the elevator."
No - this is not a RM journal... it's from "The Hunger Games", which I'm gonna read becuz my other fave LDS roll-modle/ebff is Stephenie Meyer and she recumended this book.
I seriously think it is SUCH a tender mercy of the Lord that the Chicken Soup for the Soul franchise has been able to specialize so much! I hated having to read GENERALIZED heartwarming stories, I want only those intended exclusively for me. I have two books that seemed to be equidistant from me so I took out a tape maysure and it turns out War Stories: The search for a usable past in the federal republic of Germany is closest. Seriously, grad school is so lame, I wish they'd offer classes about Twilight so I wouldn't have to read depressing ugger stuff about selective memory post-WWII. What am I supposed to tell my future MIL I study? I seriously think my uterus dies just a little every time I read non-fiction.
Ok, my book, "Dieting for the Super-Skinny" reads:
"Splurging one a week with 1 cup broccoli and 2 Tbsp fat free ranch dip is completely acceptable .... if you want to look like a fat piece of lard!"
Mom to small kids here... all I can find are Sandra Boynton board books... most don't have five lines on each page!
"His reply was directed against ceremonialism, which had caused spirituality to wither almost to death in the hearts of the people."
I purposefully lumped myself in with the youngsters, trying to make it clear that I preferred Jacob.
"I can't get this stupid hair to comb right." Calvin and Hobbes
Nearest book is Inkheart, which my genius 4-yo Dd is reading. j/k, she's 9. Your feti will be reading it before they're 4 though, I'm sure.
The fifth sentence is actually a quote from The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. "He has betrayed us all."
The fifth sentence in the actual book: "But Capricorn looked quite different."
Anywayz, so glad you found your exact Chicken Soup book.
"BWT, a really good hamburger would probably go a long way toward unruffling my feathers".
Ewww.... I feel bloated slash gaggy just thinking about eating an entire hamburger. By myself. Who DOES that?? Obvious this author is not a totally righteous slash hungry follower of The Plan. I must now repent for reading this by fasting (DC doesn't count when you're fasting, right??).
"Her face was a mass of wrinkles, all of them turning down into angry lines." The Host, by Stephenie Meyer.
I think this one was inspired -- it's a warning for you about your future sister-in-law if she doesn't learn from your example.
Oh, and I totally have to do the L thing. But you have to remember that it's for the BACK of your hand, so it's not foolproof.
" Nearly Headless Nick, the ghost of Gryffindor Tower, was staring morosely outo f a window, muttering undre his breath, "...don't fulfill their requirements..half an inch, if that.."
I always keep Harry Potter books nearby. I find that it attracts smart boys:)
"I pray you be my mean To bring me where to speak with Madam Silvia." (from my copy of the Norton Shakespeare, "The Two Gentlemen of Verona" 4.4.102)
I am just no where near as righteous as you...I can't believe my copy of Charly wasn't closer than Shakespeare. I think I'm going to go talk to my bish about that.
What a WAY fun tagg. I am following it to the TEE! Here's the fifth sentence from The Book of Abigail and John, which was seriously 7 inches from me when your tagged me.
"We dare not exert our power in it's full latitude."
Is that profound or what? Especially since I didn't even cheat or try to be profound.
P.S. Tags don't ROCK! Only this tag ROCKS!
"During the rest of the walk to school, Melinda was occupied with wonderful ideas."
Elements of Literature, Second Course
My book was almost like yours..."Chicken soup for the frumpy but sorta attractive might be pregnant with number five but hopefully not twins, wife of a non-scholar type husband"...and page 123 was..."drink more diet coke..."
Wow, so intuative TAMNS...
"Romance is telling his company he needs to take extra time to move his mother-in-law."
From a book called "Mothering Mother" by Carol O'dell.
It's the sociologist in me-- I had to read it!
And I LOVE this tag. I'm going to do it on my blog!
lol!!! Just so happened it was: "The Color Code" It's the secsion talking bout how yellos are ofen considerd Obnocsious (Your not a yello? are you TAMN?)
"This label always offends them because they can't comprehend why anyone wouldn't find them as delightful and entertaining as they find themselves."
(And YES, this really was the book nearest me!)
The story you're quoting is about Mitt Romney, isn't it?
"Not a very helpful choice." from the book 'Audition' by Micheal Shurtleff.
Kinda lame... I should try again.
From my parasitology textbook (sorry for grossness- my bad for reading SSB on campus): "Infection with hookworm begins when the filariform larvae actively penetrate the cutaneous tissues, usually through a hair follicle."
Good luck with your sweet little, twinsy, uterus parasites!
And now I, Jacob, spake many more things unto the people of Nephi, warning them against fornication and lasciviousness, and every kind of sin, telling them the awful consequences of them.
I'm oh so rightcheous!
"It would be too mortifying to bear."
"They will examine me and put two and two together and figure out that I am their Jeune Fille sans Merci, the cruel girl pirate, and when that happens my head will soon fall into a basket."
I'm embarrassed that my line is so boring. But I want to follow the rules and my closest book is a biography of 20 great women that I keep around so that I look like a woman of substance to any church leaders or neighbors that might stop by. Don't worry fellow TAMNites...this is all I've read of it.
Madame Currie was born in...OK, I just can't inflict this boringness on you. Sorry.
"And get your whip."
It's from the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, I swear! (though not litterally, cause that would be bad)
I teach school, so the closest book was one on the Declaration of Independence.
"A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people."
You tell 'em Mr. Jefferson.
I am so righteous that the closest book is the wolford woodruff rs manual. Here's it is, are you ready? It's awesome. Maybe you can lay this one on your single boring friends who have special promises of eternal companionship in their pat blessings and whine that they are still single and boring...
"Who am I, saith the Lord, that I promise and do not fulfil?"
Righteous, right? I KNOW!
Since I'm on my 5th time reading the other LDS bible, the Work and the Glory series, I picked up Volume 8, So Great A Cause, and found: " Jenny, Jessica, Rebecca, and Lydia said it in perfect unison, which brought a peal of laughter from them all."
Seriously so blessed to have a biography of the Steeds!
Okay, this is SO totally a sign. I opened up my quad, (which is always the closest book to me, at least to my heart) and here is the 5th sentence on page 123: "And thou shalt put the two wreathen chains of gold in the two rings which are on the ends of the breastplate." WEIRD! since you are totally talking about droolry, and there's TWO of everything, like your twinners. It's for sure a sign that you're so the best/hottest twin mommy ever that you'll be getting all sorts of droolry.
Know assuredly, dear brethren, that it is for the testimony of Jesus that we are in bonds and in prison.
"It seemed that sixth grade boys just normally kept a lot of things around that were perfect for the altar of an evil god."
Glad I could help. Let me know if you need anything else.
I know I am the Ann you are wondering about and my ring is understated with lots and lots and lots of diamonds. My book is actually an advanced reading copy by Michael Reisman called The Octopus Effect. "A loud chirping cut through the air and, to everyone's surprise, a brown-and-white sparrow swooped between Kender and the kids."
I'm sittin on the sofa and the closest book is on the book shelf at least 2 steps away, do I really have to get up and read it?
And how do I choose which one is really closest, I mean which shelf is actually closer to me? This is way too complikated.
I like when you don't give us assignments and we can just laugh at you! ;)
GREAT idea about the double bling! i should post a pic of my ring on my blog and see how many people LOVE it. anyways. 5th sentence, "Problem-solving skills and creativity are required to generate publicity."
good advice? i think so. now that's a Serious thing to blog about!
"It shouldn't"
How boring!!!
I like the next line better:
"There's nothing as human as hunger."
Of course, TAMN, you wouldn't about hunger, would you, since you're perfect, and probably rechannel your hunger urges to go work or or something!!
"Greed will certainly make a man want money, for the sake of a better house, better holidays, better things to eat and drink." Seriously, that was the closest book, and the specific place you told me to look! Sorry TAMN! (Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis)
Family law:
"In situations where there is evidence that visitation may be harmful to the child, the presumption that liberal unrestricted visitation with a non-custodial parent is in the best interests of the child may be overcome."
Aww, TAMN, I am so sorry to even bring of the fact of splitting-up families on your blog! That is something we just DON'T want to talk about.
Ok, 5th sentence on page 123: Jerome visualized the man with cruthes struggling to cross the street.
From my FAVE Christmas story The Wise Man in the Checkered Shirt.
BABY WISE
Book Two
Parenting Your Pretoddler Five to Fifteen Months
Teach your baby to sign: MOMMY
"With fingers spread apart, thumb touches middle of chin."
Sorry, book is only 129 pages and the end is all about teaching your babys sign language!!
"If F prime of x is less than zero for all x an element of the interval a to b, then x is less than y and x and y are elements of the interval ab implies that f of x is greater than f of y."
From "Introduction to Analysis." It's my husband's math book. It would look more impressive if I could put the symbold of the equation in instead of jsut the words.
"Sin slows our spiritual progession and can even stop it."
Total downer. Next time I'll make sure I'm closer to Twilight and further from Gospel Principles.
Hmmm, there are two books in my briefcase, and they are exactly the same distance, so I'll give you both, since your example has inspired me to always be the most honest, righteous person that I can be.
First, we have: "They like suspended visiting-day for a bit because of one prestoopnick getting some blasting-powder smuggled in across the wires from his ptitsa." A Clockwork Orange, by Anthony Burgess. Its a most unrighteous book, but I swear, I'm just holding onto it for a friend, as I try to encourage her to be more righteous in her choice of influences.
Second, we have ... well, who cares really, since the bigger question is, "Why am I carrying two books around? What has happened to me? When did I become this ultra-bookish creature?" I need your help, TAMNers.
"were invited by Cu Roi to a beheading contest"
Encyclopedia of Mythology... weird!
"He pulled the zero around on the dial and waited."
From Oprah's latest book club pick, "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle". HATED IT! Boo, Oprah. How about a Book Club or recommendation, TAMN?
Oh my heck! The closest book to me is The Tale of Despereaux (so cute!) but page 123 is like the beginning of a new book/chapter so it doesn't have a real sentence. The book that's sitting right under it is FOR REAL "The Host"!!! And ya...it's a total snore. I can't get into it. But here's the fifth sentence on page 123:
Her face was a mass of wrinkles, all of them turning down into angry lines.
Sounds like a page out of my own life!
Okay, my husband's school books are the closest, so here goes, "In a little while Ashbury heard that Thurmond, who had failed to reimburse him as promised, designed 'quitting the Kingdome, under the pretence of going into the Country'.
I know right?
I have to remember which one is my left hand ALL the time! The 'looks like an L' dill totally saves my life evryday:P
HMMM...nearest book....
"Enfold me in thy quiet hour And gently guide my mind"
It just so happened to be the HYM BOOK. Cuz I'm just that richus :D
I've never heared this Hym before but I bet it's gonna be my NEW FAVE cuz this tag musta been inspirashun or sometheen!!
I echo Will--since I just had my marriage enhancement class today, I was working on making myself more richus for my hubby so my BOM was closest--thank goodness for Jacob! Except even after all those years of Sunday School I'm not sure what lasciviousness is. Is that like not taking the time to make yourself look nice in the morning by poofing your hair jsut right and straight-ironing the heck out of it?
"Bella? Can I please come in?" Worriedly now.
HOW? has no one even had this one yet?? HOW?
Alls I had to do was pull it out from under my arm! It is always and forever will be the closest book nearest and dearest to me.
"I purposefully lumped myself in with the youngsters, trying to make it clear that I preferred Jacob."
From Todar's Medical Microbiology (1996) page 123, Table 7-1 Types of Bacterial Infections:
"Primary- Clinically apparent (e.g., invasion and multiplication of microbes in body tissues, causing local tissue injury) examples: Shigella dysentery"
I'm totally not part of the plan- I am married, have 4 kids 6 and under and am attending grad school for Biology!! Bad, I know!! I can't believe I haven't been ex-communicated yet!
"I only knew the memory lived in me, a perfectly encapsulated morsel of a good past, a brushstroke of color on the gray, barren canvas that our lives had become."
Wow. So not uplifting. Where did you find that book that YOU were reading?
A hockey puck is hit on a frozen lake and starts moving with a velocity of 12.0 m/s. Yikes! No wonder the church ladies at the Christmas party didn't want to talk to me.
"I purposefully lumped myself in with the youngsters, trying to make it clear that I preferred Jacob."
But my neck is for Edward, too.
I'm embarrassed to say that this was actually the closest book to me. My sister just returned them and she set them right here on the desk. But it's always nice to have them close. I can almost feel Edwards chill.
We have to arrange for protection."
Um, wow. Out of context, my wife and I will never have twins...
Vince Flynn "Term Limits"
"From time to time she would open her mouth wide, and I could see her tongue undulate faintly."
To Kill a Mockingbird.
"Put mixture in a covered Crock-pot on the lowest setting."
-Tis The Season, A Vegetarian Christmas Cookbook (recipe for Crock-Mulled Spiced Cider.. because we all know that thick, creamy, hot chocolate makes you a fatty!)
:) but it's sooooo good.
"Hoag's Objecy lies some 600 million light-years away in the equatorial constellation of Serpens."
"Phagocytic cells, the alternative pathway of complement and antibody, are most important for resolving bacterial infections, except for intracellullar bacteria."
Frills!
Ha, Ha, SNORT!
Thanks for the giggle! Frills!
That was usually about when the screaming started.
That was usually about when the screaming started.
"They qualify for the Oscar in marital spats."
Okay, so the closest one was "How the Grinch stole Christmas" and that doesn't have 123 pages. Neither does "Go Dog, Go." But here's one from "Brisinger." I haven't read it yet, so I hope it doesn't give anything away...
"Saphira felt unlike any other being Nasuada has encountered: Ancient, alien, and both ferocious and gentle."
In, addition, as fibers absorb water from the digestive juices, they swell, creating feelings of fullness and delaying hunger.
You FAST DAILY? THAT is what I am doing wrong!
So embarsing, I'm reading The Big book on handling being a spinsty brunette when all your hot blonde friends are married and preggers. It says,
"A master's degree is only acceptable to pursue if you have already had three fiances cancel on you because you wouldn't dye your hair blonder."
It's such and enlitning book. I've learned sooo much. Thanks for the rec Tamners.
Would you believe that both "New Moon" and "The Screenwriter's Bible" were the same distance from my computer? Obviously one tells us how we should all experience "the truest of true loves"-which is one of the BEST quotes from New Moon cuz' Stephanie's a genius-and the other has the word "bible" in it so it must be righteous too. You guess what it's from:
"Once an agent or producer receives your script, the script will be placed horizontally on a stack."
Sooooooo inspirational!
"Then Theorem 3 in section 4.3 says that these r row vectors are linearly independent, whereas any r+1 row vectors of A are linearly dependent."
That was my student study manual to linear algebra and differential equations.
WHY IS IT ALWAYS MY CLOSEST BOOK?
You're so much more hot and righteous than me TAMN. I totes look up to your example.
Just do a little FBI surveillance for me, okay?
From Parenting with Love and Logic
Remember that part, TAMN? Or did you skip the chapter on backseat battles since your twins are going to be so perfectly behaved at all times, especially in the car. :)
Tamn, I completely agree about your sparkly upgrade. What better way for Angeloaf to show his love and support for you and your children than expensive jewelry ofincreasing carat size? Forget the years of classes and tests and sleep deprivation that Jjwt is struggling through. Without the bling, it don't mean a thing!
Just make sure he gives you your new rocks BEFORE you give birth. They will look super sparkly on your freshly manicured hands when you hold up your babies for that first picture.
Such Wrecks were to play a vital part in establishing the presence of the Chinese treasure fleets elsewhere in the world, but finding such a wreck on the coasts of South America is likely to be a lengthy task."
Taken from 1421 The Year China Discovered America
That's right Columbus ;) the CHINESE!
To begin, it has been demonstrated that mind-body techniques help strengthen the immune system, which may mobilize the body to fight the cancer itself.
BOARING!
"Edward leaned forward in his most metrosexual way and chewed the infant from Bella's rock-hard uterus"
Wow.
"Still there was no answer." The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
«Allez», dirent les gendarmes en poussant Dantès.
-Le Comte de Monte-Cristo, Tome I
Maybe you thought that was srs slash boring, but it's talking about the SUPER HOT guy from the COunt of Monte Cristo!! Almost as hot as Edward! Bah. I never read books over 123 pages of course--only watch the movie verzhions.
i think it you were more ritcheous you wood learn French because thats where they make dior and Chanel, right? don';t use any laaaaaame books--just download some seriously fun lessons off itunes. Gaining the ability to ask loudly where the chonz ayleezay is on your 25th wedding anniversary extravaganz in Paris with the J-man will make the sacrifice TOTALLY worth it.
Ha I was looking at your old archives as a righteous Sabbath activity. This looked so fun I couldn't resist.
"A similar situation exists in the mouse, in which the transcript of the Xist gene is seen to coat the inactive X chromosome (Figure 5.24A; Borsani et al. 1991; Brockdorrf et al. 1992)."
From my developmental biology textbook. But of course, TAMN, you should know all about developmental bio because of your fetus widgets.
