now that I'm from DC

Know what is sooooooo weird?? We've been unpacking in DC for our internship and it was way sad bc I'm like four thousand miles from home and oober far outta my comfy zone, but its also way fun bc guess what?

We've met a ton of people EXACTLY LIKE US!

Seriously! Crazy right?

What are the odds?

We have forty new couples to be best friends w/ and check out how wierd this is: all the hubs are here for 2 mos. in law/biz/med/dental school on internships and all the wive's are preggo and/or have new little babies and have photog businesses! Seriously, who would of ever thought?

JJWT & Alivyiah & Tridger & me are already in four playgroups, three dinner groups, two Settlers groups and also have like seven guitar hero tournaments linned up! Seriously so excited to get a real taste of the back east culture by only spending time w/ my adorable clone transplants!! Soooo blessed to experience DC by doing adventurous explore-y stuff like watching SYTYCD with a new but identical group of girls out here!! And Angelbabe is in this new crazy EQ basketball league and I'm going to every game no matter what just to be supportle.

Except I'm homesick, so even though I'll be back in time to correct how they do things at church out here, I'll be missing a wild 80s themed potluck w/ all our new couple friends this weekend bc I'm flying home to get my Cafe Rio fix and get my hair done.

I love you even more now than ever before.

What? "Digital Debbies" and their photog businesses live in DC too! I'm glad to know you'll be taken care of!

Rach said...

BRAVO TAMN!

If you're careful, you could go THE WHOLE SUMMER without ever meeting anyone who actually LIVES there!

Trent!? said...

Wow. Flying home on your first weekend there to get your hair done is so accurate it's freaky.

ugh! i was really hoping you might meet some real east coast mormons.

i seriously hope you plan on shopping your cute tush off at the glitzy-glam chevy chase pavilion at least ONE weekend. they even have a cheesecake factry there... tell your angelbabes that you're just having such a hard time coping with addjusting to the eastern coalchure and need a little piece of home... he'll FOR SURE take you there.

Cristin said...

I want to some photo shoots from your photog business.

What's crazy is how insanely accurate you are sometimes. I just moved for summer sales w/ my hubby (I know) and I met 4 MORMO MOMMIES just in my apartment complex who invited me to ward playgroup. Hi, if I wanted to do that I would have stayed in Utah!

Brooke said...

Best one yet, TAMN! I'll see you at the EQ basketball finals!

Liv said...

don't forget to post about all the sunday spending! bc like, everyone knows it doesn't count when you spend money on the sabbath if you're not in zion. or if you're on vacay, i hear it's ok to spend money on sunday then too.

Stacey said...

Perfect. In fact, I think you are the girl who just moved into my ward...

Mrs.EBG said...

Meeting peeps just like you?! That would never happen, you are way too unique for that, TAMN! But glad you found friends so quick that were acceptable for your circle!

ollie said...

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! That's what ALL of the dental school wives do out here in KY!!!!! I love this blog because it's so amazingly accurate!

Emmy said...

I have moved a lot and every time have found that there are friends everywhere :) Glad you have so many new friends.

Lindsay said...

lol...you made me chortle with "supportle."

Sharah said...

"Supportle" I love it! :)

But people's comments are scaring me... This is all just a great over-the-top exaggeration, right? No one flies from DC to Utah just to get their hair done... right? Right? Please tell me no one actually does that!

Megan Gery said...

"supportle"!!!!! Oh TAMN, you make my day!

Jed and Kate said...

Genius, TAMN, genius.

JessalynKate said...

I'm so glad you're being supportle!

Shane, Meg, CJ, RJ, and AL said...

It's definitely best to keep yourself confined to your little transplant group.
If you try to reach out at all to the natives, they'll only get attached and have a harder time when they have to let you move back *home*.

TAMN, I am LOVING the new blogiversary header!!! Sooooo fab! Seriously, you are just AMAZING!

This was great.

Janice said...

I don't know how you manage to both humor and insult me at the same time, but I like it! You are so spot on, it kills me!

Rachey said...

I knew I would love your time in DC. So accurate, did you really move here?

dharvey said...

Oh my heck, who would of thought that their are people just like you on the east coast. Make sure that you stock up on plenty of lime jello to take to the potlucks. XOXO -- D.

Abby said...

OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH for coming just in time to tell us how we're doing things wrong in the gossipel here! So many have tried before you, all with no success ATALL, but I'm so greatful/hopefull that you will take the cow by the horns and teach us all how its really supposedly done right. Bless you, TAMN, BLESS YOU.

So true. So very sad, but so very true.

Awesome!

Just when I thought it couldn't get any better...

La Beq said...

Guitar Hero? People still play that back east? Everyone I know here in Zion plays Rock Band.

Shannon said...

80's potlucks and Settlers groups? Hi-larious. It never ceases to amaze me how accuratly you portray our ridiculous culture. Thanks for the laughs.

telemoonfa said...

Yeah, it's weird when people comment that stuff in Seriously So Blessed is really really accurate... Are real people really as crazy (er, I mean, rightous and adorable) as you are, TAMN? I grew up LDS, but not in Zion, so I don't get all this stuff, but I get it enough for it to be funny. Really funny! U Rock TAMN! lol!

GladysIcanbe! said...

so accurrate you scare me. if you may just go the whole summer not meeting all the wives because there all in Utah for the summer. Don't forget to bring fry sauce back with you.

I'm jealous of your Settlers groups. SAD!

I think it's a beautiful, beautiful thing that you're so supportle.

Usually when a blog has music, the first thing I do is scroll down (and down, and down, and down, and down) until I can find that pause button, but your blog must have some sort of hypnautic/mesmorizing effect on me, because it's the only place where I just let the music play. I think I do it so that I can really get the full sensory experience of visiting here.

P.S. HAPPY BLOG BIRTHDAY!!!!

I think I am going to vomit.

Lindsey said...

I lurve Settlers and an oober jealous that you have groups to play with. Can you believe SYTYCD this year?! Isn't it the best to be able to watch almost porn on the TV and it's not really a problem?

Barb said...

"supportle"? LOL!

Sarah Kay said...

There ARE INDEED people out there like TAMN! I couldn't believe how spot-on-funny this was: the photog, the "fixing the church," the hair, Settlers...I'll stop now before I end up repeating the entire post. Hilarious and truly scary.

Lizzen said...

Aren't you seriously so greatful for frequent flyer miles? They're making your chunky highlites come true!

Frau said...

Whatever you do, don't eat the food: Lebanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Indian - everyone over there eats it but just say no. If Ruth asks you if you tried it just make a face and say, "Ewwww! I'd never eat something with a funny name!" (Because spaghetti isn't weird sounding at all.)

That's how you keep yourself unspotted from the world. Good girls eat salads and pick fries off their loverbunz plates. Whores eat falafel and korma.

Stephanie said...

do you even know HOW to play Settlers? Or are you just in the group to say you're in the group?

Goob said...

oh, I can't wait to hear about your first encounter with a "local character"...it will be so fun to hear all your new friends response to the trouble you get in!

Shailynn Greenhalgh said...

Your just so giving to go all the way to dc with your loverbuns AND make friends! Wow I wish I could be more like you!

Julia said...

Mmmmm...korma. Now I'm hungry. Of course, I'm one of those non-Zion-dwelling heathens.

I can't wait for the first time you're in Relief Society in your new ward and they talk about setting a good example for your non-LDS friends, and you impress them all (a less perceptive person might mistake the expression for "horrified" but you'll know it's really "impressed") by saying you don't even know any nonmembers, as if.

Karilynn said...

TAMN!!! You are so WAY behind on those tickers! For realz... you've got to update those ASAP!! Maybe a countdown till you move back to Zion would be a FANTASTIC idea! Luvz! :o)

Shelby Cheney said...

OMGosh I heart SYTYCD! Who is your fave so far?

MW said...

The best way to experience DC is to watch SYTYCD! That's so unique!

way to live it up!

Kristen said...

Wait...didn't you go on a frumpy church history trip on your way to DC? Is that worth sharing deets on? Of course I'd rather read about YOU than Ruth...but it's for prosperity's sake!

Ashley said...

Thank you for the best laugh of the day!

Lisa R.D. said...

Still laughing over this post....

Good girl, TAMN! Just because you don't live in Zion anymore doesn't mean you can't still live in the bubble!

When I grow up I wanna be JUST LIKE YOU. Pray for me.

Andrea said...

you are clearly not in my ward babe!

Bradley, DeAnna, Donovan, and Chamae said...

I will admit, I really do get my hair done when I visit Utah, but probably not as often as TAMN. This sounds just like the group of Creighton wives in our stake!

Chelsea said...

So true, they just don't do hair here in DC like they do in Utah.

Trav said...

Make sure to turn your nose up at the summer sells wives. Their husbands need to get an education and get a real job like JJWT.

Dru said...

I can't believe how much fun you are already having back there in one week. I have been really worried about the way they run church there, its a good thing they have you to teach them the righteous way!

I just thought you should know this about your daughter's name.

You know you're a blogluxe nominee for funniest blog 2009 and you only have 14 votes? I'm really disappointed in your readers. You need to be begging people for votes. You know, in a non-desperate, super cute sort of way. Because you're seriously so funny and need to win!

best. post. ever.

As a Mormon chick who grew up in DC, just FYI-- we LOVE to mock you and your new transplant BFF's....

Love {frownsmile} you!!

Yahoo! Just what DC needs, another intern! Can't wait to hear about your first Sunday at church! I wonder how long will it take for you to realize that your status as the wife of a law/biz/med/dental intern is really not all that, when you in are in a ward with congressmen/senators/generals/ambassadors... but maybe you are sooooo blessed you will never realize.

Meghan said...

two settlers groups? you kill me.

The Crash Test Dummy said...

Tamnit! I just returned from D.C. I so could have hooked up with you and had a play date at the Natural History Museum. I hear church is like stake conference every sunday. Is that true?
