Can you believe there's life outside of Zion??? I hear they even have restaurants and stuff. And maybe, just maybe some craft stores! Unbelievable!!!!

If you're lucky, they may even have Anthro and fancy hair salons...

I grew up on the West coast and I met my husband when my family moved to North Carolina. I absolutely LOVE the East coast and I don't think we will ever move from this area. Don't be scared! It is much better than the West!!!

As a current DC-spinsty, I happen to know that we DO have Anthro and The Cheesecake Factory and lots of spas. The monuments are cool and all, but Anthro is where it's at! Just call me when you get here and I'll show you around!

Shoot, you'll just miss being able to hang out with Mo-matchelor Micah. He moves back to UT this week from DC. :)

You shop at Costco? No offence but isn't that store kinda yuckers for you? On one hand I can see the plus sides -- if stuff is good, more stuff is better, plus you need a membership card so its exclusive. But come on! The way you reckonize quality is because its EXPENSIVE!!! Personally I would rather pay $2 for a can of soup and know that I shopped at Safeway or Market of Choice than go someplace that has NO decorations, NO cute displays and has a hot dog stand. What do you need with food in bulk anyway, don't you just eat one lettuce leaf a day?

I think we read all the same blogs, TAMNers. I have seen this before. "Did you know they even have TARGET here!?" like it's Mars. I love you.

Mhana: of course she doesn't eat. But she has to get stuff for YWs and everything, and like all good women of Zion, she hearts Costco. Right TAMN?

TAMN i have some good news about washington!

two words: CHEESE. CAKE.

But what about ANTHRO??????

Well, you are seriously so blessed, because DH and I moved to the Elko, Nevada mission filled about 2 years ago (we should be called back home any day now, HORRAIE!!) And we don't have a Costco or a Target! We only have a Walmart and (GASP!) a KMart. We do get to go to Utah to do all our shopping once a month though, and that helps so that when people see how much cuter we are than those around us, we must know something they don't, and that totally has opened up a door to missionary work.

kris said...

Hahaa! Misty your comment made me laugh so hard!

I'm so excited for TAMN's move it's kind of embarrassing.

The best part of the DC area (other than ME!) is Wegmans. You will have a hard time moving back to Zion once you've experienced it.

Unknown said...

There are 10 Cheesecake Factorys in the metro DC area, TAMN. TEN!!!!!!!!!! Utah only has one. {frownsmile}

Kelly said...

I live in the DC area. You will miss the mountains but love the trees! Expect lots of visitors. Oh and btw- the church is true wherever you live I hear.

Call me!

Cristin said...

Good luck. I hear that living in the mission field is really hard.

Jessica Brown said...

Real trees out here too. You'll love it!

Don't worry, TAMN:
As someone who lives in the mission filled, I have some reassurances:

We also have cheescake factory (but it's not like you'd even eat anything but salad there), jamba juice and the wards of D.C. are quite similar to the ones at BYU, I hear - especially during the summertime when all the interns and summer salesmen descend on the nation's capitol.

There are also so many shopping malls that you won't know what to do with your money first, and everyone there will hate-love-worship you for your tiny self and your most adorable twins.

The Price Family said...

Oh, sweet heart! You are going to one of the shopping mechas of the world! There are so many malls you would DIE! Tysons, Tysons 2, Springfeild, Westfeilds, Fair Oaks, Reston Towne Center and... the list goes on and on!Those are just the the malls in VA! Stores you never knew about will be at your shopping disposal! In fact you may not want to come back to UT after all the shopping delight!!!

dharvey said...

Honestly, it is amazing how civilized the mission filled has become these days. The D.C. area probably also has malls with large department stores. I hear they also have craft stores. Maybe shopping out in the mission filled wont be such a trail after all. Love you, D.

Laurie S said...

Now you know it's definitely part of the plan to let your richus light shine in the mission filled.
You will make so many of those Gentiles jealous when they see your adorable, teensy self struggling down the aisles with a ginormous Costco cart piled high with twinsies and food storage/diet coke!

How can you go wrong w/ a Target and Costco? Go luck w/ the move I pray everything goes smoothly.

Melanie Jacobson said...

Uh, we have those in California and it doesn't rain. We win.

Sarah said...

Chelsea, you're so right. Wegman's is amazing. I wish they would expand out west...

Christa said...

I live back east, and it's the bestest...D.C. temple is to die for!

Kathleen said...

Whoah, maybe the even have a Steak Center there!

heather said...

There are also beaches near by so you can sport your modest bikini!

Plus, New York City is a day trip destination. So fun!

Grandma Cebe said...

I was raised in the mission field of DC. It even say so on my birth certificate. I've lived in Zion (aka Utah) a long time. All this talk about the new and improved DC area makes me want to go back.

You are so lucky to have so many malls to choose from. When I was a teen, we just had one on the VA side of the Potomac. You are so lucky. And gotta love those trees!

Abby said...

OMG we can totally hang out while your hear! At Target even!

Sarah said...

They are always talking about "The Mall" in DC.
No worries TAMN!

One thing is TAMN--no Kiddie Kandids :-( Watch out, because you don't want to get a few weeks behind on the twinsies' photos! (And I don't know if the Target studios there know how cute we are here in Zion, so you might need to bring your own watering can, umbrella, and hatbox for them to sit in. By the way, I hope you pronounce Target in the pseudo-French Tarjay--so classy!)
DC is awesome, you'll love it. No billboards! Lots of trees! Say hi to my hometown for me.

Anna said...

Happy to hear you are coming my way. You will love the DC/VA/MD area, but VA is by far the best of the three. Maybe we will even be in the same ward, cause you know, there is a Costco and Target here.

Sabrena Suite-Mangum said...

Can't wait to hear your take on the fashion faux-pas committed by the DC crowd...Women in black suits with nude nylons and white running shoes taking the metro on their way to work...

On a separate note, the Costco-Target thing's killing me...do everything you can to avoid a new experience. You should ONLY eat an chains and make sure to shop at box stores. And you should probably avoid the Smithsonian too... because they say dinosaurs actually existed and I have yet to read that in my scriptures.

I'm just sayin'.

Robyn said...

In the DC area we also have Anthro and many of our Targets are Super!

Robyn said...

You can also start saying "ya'll" because you'll live in the south. It saves so much time to not have to say, "you all" or "everyone."

OH. MY. HECK! I hope you are moving near Hywy 1 because, that's close to where I live. And, there are TONS of cute condos there. They are totally fashionable.
