Just curious...why would it be less than okay for A & T to hang out in the nursery? Isn't that the purpose of the nursery?

Cyndi Watkins said...

1. Darling
2. Like, come on, right?
3. As if!

Sarah said...

What a bratty nursury leader. Because my kids are just TOO adorably darling, the nursury leaders are always BEGGING me to bring my babies in , like, a year earlier than they are post to come in.

Aimee said...

1. Playful! Children under 8 aren't accountable, and therefore not required to wear proper church attire!
2. Smarto! Church is for everyone remember. (And all the germs they bring with them)!
3. Total Brat! She should feel lucky you trust her to watch your little twinsies!

This is MY fillosofee:

1. Babies just "play" at church anyways, so why is it so bad to wear THEIR appropriate attire?

2. I spray disinfectant on the seats, cause somebody's bum sat there before mine and I don't want their stinky tooty bum germs!

3. My kids never had a problem with going to Nursery, cause I'd start them when they were newborns. I'd hang out in the nursery (mostly for the snack) and let them get used to the surroundings. So by the time they're 16 1/2 months old I'd drop them off and they'd have NO problems. I think it also helps that I have them in full-time day care as I focus on my busy career. They'll go to ANYONE now! I feel I've done my best to integrate them into society. I am SUCH a good mom, if I may say so myself.:)

Anyways I JUST started reading your blog and I am SO AMAZED at our similarities! OMGOSH you are just SO BLESSED!....but not as blessed as I, of course.

Toodles!

-Your new pal,

ME!

play clothes to church... totally sinful.

1- sinful... there are sooo many cute baby church clothes.
2- a little weirdo, but whatever floats your boat!
3- Total Brat! especially if you stay too and she gets to talk to you for 2 hours!!

Because You Want To Know said...

1. Darling for sure!! babies have so many cute outfits and little time to show them off so you gotta do what you gotta do.

2. Smarto! You never know where the hands who have touched the pews have been! Especially if the building is next to an insane asylum.

3. Children are a gift from God so if the nursery leader is getting all upset she should be replaced by someone who sees them that way... no matter how young they are! Vote her out!

Madame Palmkey said...

1. Makes you a lazy Mom. You want to inspire everyone to wonder "how does she do it?" when you come in perfectly hot with two hot kiddies in clothes that will only fit for a month but still cost $50 for less than a yard of material. I call women whose sons don't wear tiny ties and whose girls don't have ruffle bottoms and taped bows on heads "stay in bed moms" -- frownsmile.

2. You don't have your own personalized fabric pad that covers the back and the seats? Sad! Mine has the Be Attitudes embroidered all cute and a personal massager inside for dry council sunday. I can't believe you're trying to combat infection with Purell! Do you not ever go to Enrichment or is it just lame where you? {pitypout}

3. Wow, are you tired of having the young women fawn over your snugglepoops already? If you're ready to abdicate your maternal blessings, why don't you foist those sweet angels on some unwilling passerby in the hallway? Just tell them "I have to teach!" and now they have to offer free babysitting or admit that they hate service and charity! Can you IMAGINE how much disinfectant it would take to make the nursery celestial? Ew!

Julie de Azevedo Hanks said...

1) I assumed the twinners were always dressed up, so playclothes=church clothes, right?

2) You b'fed, right? Only mom's of bottlefed baby's moms need to worry about bacteria.

3)"brang" (TAMN I heart you)

1. Sinful for girls, who should ALWIZ be waring the biggest, fluffiest dresses, shiny shoes, and bows bigger then there heads. It's grate for boys, tho, who look darleen expeshilly in one-peace play outfits (rilly! Until there 5 years old!).

2. What do you mean? Our door greaters squirt antibackterial on our hands when we enter the chapple anyways, because the swine flu, which, is, supposably, bacterial.

3. brat and a half.

As a nursery leader, I never mind parents staying with their kids, unless the parents are more high maintenance than the kids, though I am sure that you present no maintenance issues ...

Unknown said...

babies wearing playclothes to church are you kidding me. The parents are just asking them to go inactive and leave the church later. What are they teaching them these days. And the anti-bacterial is a must do you see what those babies do to the pews. DISGUSTING!!! I can't believe the nursery leader got all mean when you brought your little ones into nursery. don't they realize the sooner the better. I mean come on. I am so glad i live in little zion where we don't have these problems.

SINFUL. WEIRDO. UPTIGHT. TOTAL. BRAT. LOL.

Scoresbys said...

As long as you make sure Alivyiah's shoulders are covered and her dress comes to her knees. Tridger would look adorable in whatever you put together from Gymboree's latest line. I mean we all know that little boys can't be immodest, but a little girl's shoulders exposed in a house of worship?! Ick!

Jules AF said...

1. Darling
2. Smarto
3. TOTAL BRAT. Ugh.

Emmy said...

Depends how many kids are already in nursery.. but hey if you stay then they should get over it.

Lizzen said...

1.Sinful cuz it practically tells them that Sacrament Meeting is for running around in the choir seats and throwing toys. So not future-bishop's-family behavior.

2. Smarto!

3. Both. Besides, doesn't she know how darling the twinses are? They totally up the cuteness factor in the nursery by like 100.

Lizzen said...

Polly, children need to be at least 18 months (I think) before going into nursery so they're at least walking and not needing to be held the whole time and all that baby stuff. Just makes it easier on everyone involved.

Kara said...

1. Sinful, but better than letting them run around in onesies.
2. Weirdo.
3. Being a nursery leader myself, I have to side with her on this one :) Keep your babies until they're 18 mos!

Jeannie said...

1.I usually do a quick wardrobe change between sacrament and nursery, so both. What's better than one adorable outfit for church? That's right, two.

2.My children have their own antibacterial bottles in adorable cell phone holders attached to their scripture bags, so they do it for me.

3.Obviously that nursery leader does not understand the word, "magnify". Ours however sent home real fish in a plastic bags when the lesson was "God created animals.".

Jess said...

I just need to say that Mhana's comment is HILARIOUS...I really hope I start seeing those personalized church pew covers in Sacrament meeting. Embroidered with the Be Attitudes...Whoa that was almost too much for me. Maybe I should start selling them on Etsy.

Goob said...

perhaps if you volunteered to bring that anti-bacterial whatever you're using to the nursery to clean the groty toys your darlings would get a warmer welcome.

Rach said...

i love that you brought your FOUR MONTH OLDS to nursery...you only have FOURTEEN more months to get them used to it, so good thinking.

Polly said...

Thanks, Lizzen.

Gordita said...

1. I can't believe you're evan asking about this. Don't you want to be an example to the young women and other mothers? Wow. I'm surprised at you TAMN.

2. Smarto. Like someone else said, they let just any one go to church.

3. I was a nursery leader for a few years and I LOVED it when people brought their 4 month olds becuz it gave me a reason to ignore the other kids. Your leder is just a brat AND uptight.

Token Asian Friend said...

You're worried about them catching diseases from the pews, but you bring them to nursery at 5 months? Forget about the pews! Wipe anti-bacterial gel all over the nursery (kids and leader included).

the h fam. said...

1. sinful, church is the best place to modestly show off how hip of a mom you are with the name brand expensive church clothes.

2. smarto. the spirit does not get rid of disease.

I *heart* Mhana's and Jeannie's comments as much as I *heart* the original post.

I was in the nursery and I just luuuuurved it when people brang in their kids who weren't eligible for nursery for another two years. But you should be more careful with Alivyiah and Tridger because sometimes those three-year-olds don't do such a great job of burping or changing the infants.

no lie...a few months ago we got to church fashionably late...had to sit in the metal chairs at the back and seriously...somebody had left some of their "personal" affects on the chair...you know the kind your Aunt Flo brings every few weeks...year I was beyond grossed out...so definetly used the sanitzer... maybe some clorox anywhere spray too.

Little Lovables said...

1. as long as the playclothes are supeer cute and matchy matchy, it's totally fine

2. totally okay to wipe down pews, you know the volunteers who clean dont do that anywayz

3. well, i'm sure your twins are already paying tithing by now, so they have the right to come in nursery, who cares their not old enough and that the nursery leaders already have their hands full with all the other toddlers and parents who keep coming in, but you own the place and can do what you want! just bring super messy finger foods next time for the snack :)

Anonymous said...

This one time after Sacrament Meeting our friends told us that during the meeting they'd watched our toddler son slooowwwly drag his tongue back and forth across the top of the bench. (We never noticed.) So I'd vote for the hand sanitizer, except if you use too much it could get your kid drunk.

The playclothes are okay, but only if T's has one of those darling onsies with a tie sewn on the front.

1. sinful....and don't even get me talking about the deekuns who wear sneakers with their flud dress pants!

2. absolutely necessary to bring bring the stuff to church, you have no idea how many kids have been chewing on the back of the pew, playing with the sacrament trays, let alone the pieces of bread....there's nothing wrong with looking out for # 1, even at church.

3. Brat, maybe but prolly someone who thought they were destined to be YW prez...

Josh and Micah said...

1-Personally... I hate when babies wear play clothes to church. Its called Sunday BEST for a reason!
2-Purell is the GREATEST. EVER. Slather that EVERYWHERE!
3-Total Brat! You dont want to be the mom who's kids are screaming in Nursery! Get them used to it now!

Um . . . aren't the twinsies like 5 months old? I'm just sayin'.

The Hills said...

1. Sinful! It makes me cry. Those poor kids should wear something super duper cutsie.

2. Smarto!---with all that mish work, they let just about anyone in church.

3. Totally uptight brat, furr sure!! You're just trying to show all the other little not-as-cute kids what they need to aspire to. Sheesh!

The Hills said...

1. Sinful! It makes me cry. It's almost negligent.

2. Smarto!--With all the righteous mish work, they let anyone in church. Which is wonderful but risky...

3. Totally uptight brat! It's not ur fault that you're twinsies are way advanced for there ages.

Sarah F said...

playclothes make kids look like they can't afford church clothes.. sad! time to hit up grampies!
hellooo your kids need the peuw germs cause it will strengthen their imuune systems. it's good for them!
never too early for nursery. just be careful that the older kids don't push em around!

Haylee Abney said...

1- neither because usually when people bring there kids in play clothes, they are probably poor and can't afford church clothes. at least that's what it seems like. so if you want to bring them in play clothes, make sure they are not ratty and old, but from darling expensive boutiques. then it's ok.

2- that is actually a rilly good idea. you have no idea about all the nasty germs that are at church. just imagine all those gross children from the ward before you slobbering all over those benches. sick.

3- oh that nursery lady is just uptight. why would she care anyways? im sure Liv and Tridger are sweet angels in their anyway. And you will def. look like a wayy better mom when they actually turn 18 months and go to nursery for the "first time" because they won't be screaming there heads off when you drop them off. Because duh!! they'll already be used to it.
TAMN you are so awesome.

Anna said...

I muse about how you gather all of your inspiration for your posts (I know, it's freaking EVERYWHERE in "Zion") but I mean, do you carry a notebook and every time something happens like, say, you see someone's hair taller and poofier than yours, you write it down and and save for later? Just curious, that's all.

1. ::Ugh, I'm finding it hard to channel my Sarcastic Self today:: I say Oh So Sinful. How dare parents neglect the most important thing about coming to church in the first place: Show Off Image, helloooo?!!

2. Actually I would say smarto ... our kid was sitting on our laps and he spat something out (I think) and it landed on the pew in front of us so I got out a wipe to clean it up. The wipe got a bunch of black filth off in one swipe. ::ewwww::

3. Tooootal brat. As everyone knows, nursery is like the EASIEST calling in church (you know how everyone always hopes they get THAT calling), there's NO STRESS at all so she had absolutely nothing to complain about!

Ashley said...

Nuhhooo way on the playclothes!

What's next?...women wearing pants?! Everyone knows that in order to feel the spirit you MUST look your best! I don't even go to church if my hair is not looking right, because I would not be feeling the spirit the way I should be.

As for hand sanitizer...Mhana is totally right on. I am going to be looking for her Etsy shop ASAP!

I, personally, don't trust the nursery leaders with my kids. They just don't have enough experience, or one-on-one time for MY kids, so I assign one of the Young Women to go down and personally watch over mine...just to be safe. This way, they can have their yummy snacks and not goldfish, and make sure no other sickly kids touch their bottles.

TAMNers- you are genious. Can I live next to you in the Celestial Kingdom??

Joni said...

1. TOTALLY depends on the BRAND of clothing. If their hyper EXPENSIVE playclothes from Gymbo. or something, then TOTALLY legit.

2. SMART. Puking is gross, expeshally when the germs come from PIGS. YUCK.

3. Total brat.

krissy said...

TAMN - I'm surprised you're still using anti-bacterial. It's really out, now. Your poor Enrichment leader probly hasn't heard about essential oils and herbs and other organic stuff that chases germs away. How do you think people survived the Plague? You might smell funny - but hey - better safe than sorry.

Chelsea said...

OMGosh, Mhana's comment has me rolling!

And yeah, no affence TAMN but you really shouldn't be using that anti-bacterial stuff. You should be using outrageously overpriced essential oils from DoTerra.

Mom2my10 @ 11th Heaven said...

Sinful, weirdo, and unless you are there with those twinsies, Tamn, that girl isn't EVEN uptight! You had better not be leaving them in there before they are of age! But I know you would never do such a thing.... :)

debbie said...

1. Not playclothes at church. They keep the building about 60 degrees so little girls will freeze in Primary if they wear sleeveless dresses. (Just encouraging them to be modest before they hit YW)
2. Def feed them essential oils and herbs and stuff instead. It's so cute to smell like your grandma's medicine cabinet.
3. Don't bring them to nursery. They'll call you as the leader if you do, then nobody in the ward will see how cute YOU are.

Wendy Kae said...

1. Cute, but would be darling if they were dressed in the oh-so expensive clothes we all know they have in their closets.
2. Weirdo. Do you sanitize restaurant seats, car seats in other people's cars, the seat at the doctors office. Now maybe you should be using anti-bacterial at the doctor's office, but otherwise - weirdo.
3. Uptight. Cut her some slack, she'll loosen up.

Keri said...

1.Sinful - do you not have enough money to buy church clothes? It looks tacky

2. Smart-o. The kids in the previous sacrament probably chewed, drooled, & wiped their noses on it.

3. Just uptight - it is quite odd to bring that young of kids in to nursery. She'll get used to it, but not bratty.

Sasha said...

1.Sinful. Just think, if Livs were's playclothes to church today, she might end up wereing an "I give up dress" in the fewtur. You know the one, denim overall dress... Ick!!

2.So torn reelly, you want them to have the BEST immune systems ever, but sum people are just not as clean as others.

3.Does it reellt matter? I'm sure JJWT will be Bishop soon. Then you can just have her released so you can hand pick your own NL.

MikeWJ at Too Many Mornings said...

1) Darling. I'm not big on formality. Dress comfortably. God does--He wears loose-fitting robes and sandals, no tie, no dress shoes. People are stupid about this crap.

2) Seems smarto, but actually weirdo. Most of us worry too much about bacteria and such, and as result we're helping to breed stronger bacteria that are making us sicker and sicker as time goes on. Hospitals know all about it.

3) Uptight and total brat. Come on, this is a nursery leader and these are kids. They go together like peanut butter and chocolate. Or should.

Lauren said...

ewwww! do we even have to discuss what to dress the cuties in for church...? Dress to impress...

the ginabean said...

1. Sinful. You, as a mother of Zion, gotta teach 'em young to show proper respect to God.
2. Weirdo. The church is a house of the Lord, and He'll protect your offspring. Seriously. Don't bring it to church.
3. Just uptight.

Now you know. You're welcome.

Peggy said...

1. Darling. At least they are dressed, right? I would take every opp to dress them up, though. Where else can you?
2. Smarto - even the Lord's House needs to be clean, and protected from germs.
3. Just uptight - it is good for kids to see a new enviroment before being left there. Come on, plus she could be missing out on a new BFF.

Mrs. Clark said...

Okay, thanks for the chance to air my pet peeve, TAMN! If your kids wear play clothes to church, what then does the term "Sunday best" mean? And the moms who wear t-shirts, denim skirts and flip flops to church--does your husband, the EQ pres and future high councillor, wear a polo, shorts, and sandals to church? Hmm?

Just sayin'.

Unknown said...

1. Darling
2. Neither
3. I think if babies are too distracting in Nursery then parents should not bring them in

1. Sinful. And onesies with ties sewn on the front do not count as church clothes!

sinful, smarto, and TOTAL BRAT, you are totally supposed to take them in and help them adjust for the month before they're ready. Don't they realize this makes their life easier in the long run?!?!
