cute-i-ful weekend

Cute: when my 19 month old twinsies walked up to the front of the primary program. So adorable! Felt prompted to let them shout along in the front row so they'll be ready for sunbeams in 2 yrs, just darling.

Cuter: when Tridger and Alivyiah started running and laughing and shrieking when the leaders tried to get them down. LOL! Seeing it was just hysterical, and I am working on not being a helicopter so just watched. He is so fiesty and Alivyiah's not bratty, she's a 'diva.'

Cutest: when Alivyiah climb'd up on the organ pedals and just jumped up and down while Tridger wrapped his mouth around the microphone and did his cute breath-ing. What can I say, their musical!

lurve that you're not a helicopter! There are too many parents who just get over involved in teaching their children proper behavior and manners, glad you're not stressing them out.

Oh Tamn, we need a "like" button!

Its so grate to know that all the other ward members think your kids are as darlling as you do and just love to watch them disrupt the meeting. Otherwise the reference could make the meeting kinda boring. I bet Lynzii was soooo jealous every body wasn't laughing at her kids and enjoying there adorable antics. I know I sure do enjoy paying attention to toddlers running loose around the chapel instid of hearing the talks.

BTW if other Moms say anything to you about their darlilng behavior, just remember their jealous and turn the other cheek.

Primary programs are the best! I'm just sure that Tridger will be the little boy who always steals the show by singing the loudest and off-key just so everybody notices him the most (because, of course, he has perfect pitch), and Alivyiah will be the one who gets all the solo parts. Next year PLEASE tell us before the program so we can come and clap for them!

I bet testimony meeting is a hoot with those two. So spiritual!

I'm kind of worried Tridger may have autism. I think that'd be a good thing to get him tested for. I mean, I know any child of yours would never be any less than perfect, but that may be a good trial for you to have....

Now I see where I went wrong when my lad was little - fancy spending all that time and stressful energy trying to get him to sit quietly in church! You have obviously got it all sorted!

Wow, I feel soooo much better about my kids...turns out they're not being disruptive! Just cute!

Best. Post. EVER!

I had a friend ignore me for at least a week because I told her to go get her kid who was pulling down the table cloth in Relief Society. Now I know she was just working on the helicopter thing. I learn something on this site every time I check in!

Interestingly, the same friend totally copied my idea for Halloween costumes for my kids. How would you handle that, TAMN?

Miranda said...

I'll bet your kids are just a joy in nursery too. Despite what those frumpy nursery leaders keep saying....

Garrett said...

Tamn: Your kids are the reason why I magically get sick every year during the primary program.

I {hEaRt} this post sooo much!! Love the "alternative" adjectives going on ... fiesty(sic) = obnoxious and diva = bratty. And good for you for being hands-off, I mean it must really dampen little children's spirits to have boundaries and someone telling them "no". Just let 'em run amok.

Frau said...

Not just musical, but they know how to give in to the promptings of the spirit too. Everyone knows that if you feel like expressing yourself in Sacrament meeting, it must be inspired and true. That goes double for the twinners because they're still pure. It's just like all the uber-spirituals that get up and tell us all their super-deep thoughts that the general authorities missed. If you helicoptered, you would just teach them to ignore the spirit.

Did you attend my sacrament meeting this week? This is too close for comfort.

I heard Lynzii's twins were granted early entrance into Sunbeams because they're so advanced. Is that true?

I've always wondered why they don't involve nursery age kids in the primary program! That would be cuteness overload!

Jackie H, I believe the word you need here is frenemy...because no one who would steal your costume ideas is always a friend. I'm sorry your friends are so too-faced. Frownsmile.

The twinsies are soooo fab! I'm glad to hear your working on the helicopter-thingy. Way to be the better mom!
By the way, Tamn, have you chosen the cute pattern you're going to paint your tummy for the fetus's costume? (It shouldn't be a problem since you always have ADORABLE garment-optional costumes) You know you need to show off the itty-bitty bump asap-- what better oportunity than the ward Halloween party?

I hope Glamma and Queenie were able to come! Along with all your aunts/uncles/cousins and your siblings with their kids.

And that woman in your gym you're trying to fellowship. And the cashier at Anthro who you told about the Program when you were buying your new Primary Program dress.

They all deserve to hear the one line that your kids had in the Program. Or the microphone-breathing in this case. Nothing like a Primary Program with more attendees than Stake Conference!

Do your kids know the words to I Am a Child of God? A retired music teacher told me the words should be "has given me an earthly home with parents kind of weird."

TAMN, we need a post now about one of my most favorite displays in sac meeting: Parents who listen attentively to the talks while the older children deal with the crying baby or unruly toddler. These parents just can't be bothered by their own noisy offspring. The 14-year-old is now in charge of seeing to it that all the other children are reverent, fed, entertained, disciplined. Mom and dad are taking notes during the high councilman's talk. ha ha ha

Gina said...

Oh you are spot on! (On a side note: I usually "get" your posts, but for the life of me I don't understand what you mean by not wanting to be a helicopter. Can someone enlighten me? I'm feeling pretty stupid right about now. I keep picturing you running up to the stand with your arms flailing around...is that it?)

: ) Paula said...

"Working on the helicopter thing." That's going to spread like wildfire.

Jackie H: You should hand out plastic toys instead of candy to her costume-stealing kids at your ward's Trunk or Treat!

Perfect!! What a great post!

There is no dout in my mind that by showing off your totally awesome parenting skills in front of the entire ward, a new (aka BETTER) calling is definantly coming your weigh!

Helicopter moms are those who hover over their kids, not wanting them to ever fall down or fail or feel disappointment.....

Oh my, this reminds me of something one of my triplet cousins did. My uncle was the ward chorister and often had one of the three up with him. Well, the little boy up and pulled the plug on the organ during the Sacrament hymn.

My aunt thought it was hilarious while the organist had no clue what had happened.

TAMN, What are you going to dress as for Halloween? Do you make your kids costumes?

Little Lovables said...

awe, it was so cute! and i even secretly videotaped it on my phone :) we'll def have to show it at tridger's mission farewell and when he gets called in the bishopric and aliyha's wedding reception! the heavy breathing will be a hit! you looked sooo cute in your giant headband and ruffly sweater and boots too with your turquoise anthro tights :)

dharvey said...

...so darling when you're own kids disrupt in meeting -- and super adorable when toddlers jump up and down on the organ petals. Not so cute when other parents kids do it, however.

Oh TAMN, I completely disagree with Garrett. Your kids are the reason that I magically NEVER get sick during the primary program season. It's comic relief! I can laugh out loud in sacrament meeting and no one looks my way twice. HILARIOUS! Too bad Tridger didn't scream "I LOVE JESUS" at the top of his lungs after his cute breathing. Too, too bad.

Wow. I'm just picturing the poor Primary President.
Our Primary program is on Halloween this year--anyone else sense a disaster in the making?

Have you thought about joining your ward choir? I realize mostly ucky frumpos sing and you prolly wouldn't want to get to be in the performance (unless you had way cute shoes to flounce in front of everyone like a fashion show) but ObVioUsLy your sweet lil babes would have to be in rehearsal racin' around 'cause Angelbiscuit shouldn't have to get the kids ready for church and he'd probably ruin it anyways and not put a ginormous bow on Alivyiah. It would be a way to start buildin' a fan base for them/give them music education. Though of course bragging about having them in voice lessons would put all the other mothers who would not even of thought of it too shame!

I'm way sad you haven't made a bigger deal about the mixing of Satan's holiday with the Sabbath this year. How are you confrunting that? By making "special announcements' in all the auxiliaries that they need to bring extra candy to the trunk or treat because this is all the candy the kids will get? By trunkertreatin' but then taking your kids to some godless but wealthy neighborhood to do it on Sunday again? By having church-appropriate costumes like jedi/Moroni and Ballerina/Virgin Mary? Or do you forbid your kids to participate and just ho it up yourself because its an adult holiday? No, you'd never do that. Miss an chance to compete and brag? Not my TAMN!!! Its not bragging, its righteously being honest.

We just moved into a new ward and we missed our primary program. Our first sunday in the new ward was THEIR program! What luck! We brought our son up to the front with the other kids even though they didn't know us from Adam. Everyone was cool with it though and we made instant friends.

My favorite Primary program ever was when my good friend was the Primary president. She was sitting behind the pulpit on a short stool so she could help the children with their parts, but every time there was a song, the children would stand up behind her. Unfortunately, during one of the songs, the child directly behind her had a gigantic sneeze and snot shot out of his nose, down to his chin, and all over the back of my friend's head. She just smiled, grabbed a tissue from the pulpit and handed it to the kid, just considering the snot in her hair as added stiff hair spray to keep her do in place.

TAMN, I think the General Primary Pres. should have a competition for the best Primary Programs church wide and give out awards. If you have the twins on video, you could enter and the first place prize could be having their performance shown on the big screens at confrense. Seriously, there are basketball tournaments for the YW and YM, why not something for the diaperling warriors? Don't they need goal setting programs too? Okay, that's my big idea for the day.BTW, did you get my free meal cards? I actually get to my big ideas but sometimes it just takes me a while cause I have a lot of tanning to do. Cheers!

Samantha said...

Wow TAMNers! You are so lucky to have kids with such honest talent!

Our primary program this year was the best. I have never laughed so hard! One of our older primary students was giving a talk about being a good example on the bus and only using appropriate language when those around him were not.

Then he loses his place and starts chanting under his breath, "crap, crap, crap, crap....." forgetting that his voice is carrying out over the entire congregation. Hilarious!

they're, not their musical! :)

Ya, it's weird that Lisa Johnson only found 1 gramatical error in this post. Especially since there were so many big words. Did you use spell check or something TAMN?
