serious dillemm part too

Cutiebunz and I are having a whole nother difference (NOT A DISAGREEMENT) so better ask my e-friends whom are a fountain of wisdom.

Is permanent makeup against the plan? (Not that I need it or already have it or would even think about it, just as a hyperthetical.) Know how you can get your eyeliners and lipliner and stuff tattood on so you can wake-up in your make-up? Evil like a TATTOO tattoo, or more like letting your darling light shine?

vain.
but it would be rather convenient.

Allison said...

It might be evil for mos people, but it's def just letting your darling light shine in your ritchus case!

Britt said...

def not against the plan---my MIL has her eyebrows tattooed, and she's in MOTAB, so obviously it's okay.

Jo said...

Anything that leaves more time for scripture study on Sunday mornings instead of having to put makeup on to look your best for LORD is a good thing!

Jules AF said...

Evil because it's DISGUSTING!

Chelsea said...

totally in the plan, its required for exaltation. i remember having a lesson about it as a laurel!

Katherine said...

Currently, yes, because those that get it done are way ugg. But when it is perfected, then it would be against the plan NOT to do it.

The Windy City Duo said...

Wouldn't smeared makeup be the greater evil? If anything is against the plan, it is smeared makeup not a perfectly placed eternal eyeliner.

peewee said...

it's more like just waterproof mascara...it's just everything proof. Tattoo? no way. Awesome make-up-YAH!

"Evil like a TATTOO tattoo?"

You genius. I say, do what you want, hottie!

Anonymous said...

Well, the scriptures do say "Don't hide your light under a bushel"..not sure what a bushel is, but pretty sure it means GO FOR IT! So, it's kinda against the plan NOT to do it.

So, I have a good friend with alopecia (no body hair anywhere) and she got her eyebrows tattooed on, and then she felt bad and went to see her bishop, and he said it was okay, but of course she kind of like has a disease, but I'm sure it's okay in your case too, because you, you know, you're pregnant, and that's kind of like a disease.

A prophet a long time ago said in General Conference that we should always look our best so we can let our lites shine to the world and be a beakon on Mount Zion.

Permanent make up helps your lite shine on and inspire your rightchus priesthood holder first thing in the morning. When he sees you on your pillow looking fresh and delightful, he'll know he wants to serve better at the Young Men's camp out and be a 100% home teacher - all so he is worthy of you. Duh.

Oh TAMN. I can read between the lines. Things are tough right now for you and JJWT. I am so sorry, just remember that this is part of the refining process. You will be the strongest brightest silver (or platinum or white gold) after you get through this trial.

You are in my prayers!

Sarah said...

I think it depends, TAMN. Some people will look good forever, but others, they're tattoo make-up will sag with the rest of their face and that sounds against the WoW to me.

The Petterssons said...

It's genius. Tattoos are only bad if they are not improving the beauty of your body.

AmandaStretch said...

But what about the changing trends in makeup fashion? What if you get black eyeliner permanently and then blue eyeliner comes back into fasion? Whatever will you do?

Elizabeth said...

Marie Osmond has it, so it's all good to me

I am too chicken to have this done

well, since we're encouraged to be financially responsible, just think of all the money you'll be saving when you're not buying $20 eyeliners for the rest of your life. The real question is should you go with something natural looking or a righteous cat-eye?

Kristina P. said...

Once again, TAMN, you really bring out the thought provoking questions. I'm not sure if I really like this side of you. The thinking side.

I've also heard that as long as you have something spiritual tattooed on you, like the tattoo I have of Angel Moroni on my lower back, then it's OK.

Madame Palmkey said...

Wow. Tough question! On one hand I would guesstimate that 85% of Utah males have never seen their wives without makeup and hair done prior to the morning after the wedding so yikes! Running a risk there. That would sure be a good time to have a tat! You don't want him to regret his decision to marry your beautiful dusky eyelids for eternity! On the other hand I think getting your makeup tattooed on violates the Young womens values. I think of makeup as a talent that worthy young women develop and they are rewarded with a good husband. If tattooing it on were righteous it wouldn't be fair to women who worked hard to develop that talent (like you). So I think you should think of your skill with eyeliner as evidence that you're a painter and an artist and you're like that paruble of the guy with ten talents that he didn't burry. Support the arts! Wear so much eye makeup you look like a raccoon! Hope this helps TAMN. I'm lucky because I live in Oregon and men are just happy if you shave your legs once a week, and makeup is a special treat.

Emily said...

Am I seriously the only one who thinks it's against the plan?! And usually it often looks worse than TATTOO tattoos anyway. Because like in 20 years you'll look like you did your makeup in 2008. Which will be lame, but you'll deserve it.

It's cool, though. You people all have free agency. And you can enjoy it for now.

akidd said...

I think it's totally within the plan. It's just like plastic surgery. I mean, someone as cute as you would never need or want it, but it only improves what's already there!

Camilla said...

Ehmm....these make-up tattoos are NOT permanent! They actually fade after a couple of years and you have to get them redone. So it's totally kosher.

AS Amber said...

I really think you should do it and blog about it so we all can know uf it's ok or not. If you get it and you still feel SHAR (super hot and righteous) then we can all rest assured that it's ok. And follow in your SHAR footsteps.

Unknown said...

Some people are lergic to eye make up. They HAVE to get it!

Risa said...

My friend had breast cancer and had her *rhymes with mipples* tattoed on. So tatoos for esthetic beauty are not against the plan. But really, TAMN, you're so naturally gorg, why would you even consider? But when you do, don't forget to have your eyelashes dyed and permed as well to match. I <3 you much!

Emily said...

haven't you watched enough of "what not to wear" to know the answer to this question? carmindy is clear on her opinion.

tattooed eyeliner--too harsh.

liquid eyeliner winged out at the end--perfect!!!

even if it was ok with in the plan, i'm sticking with carmindy. she's my makeup guru!

Karen said...

My 71-yr old mother got a tat on her breast when she was having radiation treatment for breast cancer. She went up to the Huntsman Center, and he's a way righteous Mormon-he let Gordon B. Hinckley use his private jet whenever he wanted, so I think it all must have been okay (plus, the onocologist really needed to use those itty bitty tats to help line up the machine for her radiation zaps) She is cancer-free. Connection? I think so.

Little Lovables said...

Well, I HAVE HAD my eyebrows tattooed about 10 years ago... It faded after about 3 years though, b/c you have to have them redone a couple of times to truly make them forever permanent (but not eternal permanent... they will be perfect in heaven anyways)

I didn't feel like I wasn't against the plan at the time... but then again I wasn't a married mommy then either!

If you ask my hubby he will say def against the plan, if you ask me...

Little Lovables said...

Oh PS, if you do get it done, you WILL look like Grouch Marx for about a week from the major swelling/black looking color when it first gets put in and copius amount of vaseline... and looking like Grouch Marx for anyone except him is def against The Plan.

Unknown said...

Poor baby. I'm so sorry you and JJWT are having so many differences right now. But it's a good thing that you guys are talking about such deep stuff. I kinda can't believe you didn't have this convo before you got married...or did he not realize that you wore makeup? Just keep making his lunches and the love will stay alive! Quit making those cute lunches and you guys are toast! Sorry babe, that's just the way it is. As far as the permanent makeup goes, to me it sounds lovely and praiseworthy and that's what the 13th AofF is all about right? So seek after it!

wildthayn said...

A little tacky cuz in 20 years you'll be lookin' a little old school, but not against the plan. I think plastic surgery is fine too.

Unknown said...

Emily - how can you be all high and mighty when you have R-rated movies as your favorites on your profile? Just wondering...

Kami said...

Aaah! Tattooed makeup! Haven't you EVER seen 10 Years Younger or What Not to Wear? It's a big no-no because when you get older and your skin starts sagging (of course, yours won't, TAMN, you'll still be chased by 30-year-olds when you're well into your 80's) it just looks ... gross!!

So even if it ISN'T against the Plan, it totally should be! Damone Roberts says so!

Sadie said...

Don't ask, Don't tell. But it is on my wish list with lasar hair removal. .

TAMN, I think a SSB dictionary posted somewhere on your blog would be a wonderful idea. With your shortened versions of words, MIL.. AI.. Stuff like that, with the real word next to it, so that those of US who have no idea what in H is going on can keep up with it.

permanent makeup? hmm i dunno. i dont think anyone really cares or notices. I have friends that have had it doen and I never even know until they tell me.. must be pretty special huh? pssh. just do what you want.

Goob said...

if you don't think 90 year old's wearing heavy eyeliner is weird in any way, then what's the prob? What I want to know is "do boob jobs fall into the category of permanently decorating the body?"

all I can say is being uggs is against the plan, and perm makeup (notice its not called a tattoo) = pretty so there you go

Maren Hansen said...

Well, my mom & sister had it done and they haven't been excommunicated yet...

Brossettelewis said...

Bad Bad Bad. Specially because in 2 yrs your going to be dated 2008, eww. Plus, you are naturally pretty. Do you even wear that much make up anyway?

Cassidie Anne said...

it's definately you came to your e-buddies. that way you dont even have to communicate about it with your hubba hubba, that way there will be no confrontation. because talking about things as a couple is no bueno....that means not of the goodness like kissing and stuff.

Mandy said...

I don't think it's a tattoo, persay, but makeup that just wont come off. I say it's totally okay. I just wish someone would come up with a way to make dying your eyelashes permanent. THAT would be the best.

missy d said...

Do it! Do it! It's so worth it! No one will ever know if it's a tat or a pencil... so they can't JUDGE!

Amberly said...

Just so you all know... tattooed eyeliner is not as dramatic as it looks when you put on liquid eyeliner. It's very subtle and does fade after a few years. My SIL had it done. I thought it would look all dramatic after she got it done but I couldn't even tell it was there. Not worth the pain... But I might give it a go anyway. Because that's just me...

Jessica said...

I wanna do it, and I'm pretty much perfect...so I'd say it's perfectly fine, like me.

Um my Nana is a Coordinator in the LA Temple and she has her eyebrows tattooed on b/c her brows were so light. She's a saint and is going to the Celestial Kingdom, so it's totally OK!

i just gotta say ew. and hi - do you want your eyeliner and lipliner and what not EXACTLY the same EVERY day? can we say BOring. fa real. the real thing is so much better and creative than the nasty faker mcfakerson way.

If it's against the plan then I'm in trouble. Although my excuse is my eyebrows fell out from illness and stress. Weird but true. So I had to get tat eyebrows. In my honest opinion, if permanent make-up is your only concern, then you've got it made. Not that you don't already. I'm just sayin'.

my friend said her aunt was in an elevator with the wife of one of the twelve, and she said that he said...

I LOVE hyperthetical questions!

TAMN, forget the permanent make-up. Just do Botox and Collagen--same process, better results, and none of those harmful color chemicals!

i was seeeeeeriously juzt thinking about this YESTERDAY as i wazzzz putting on my makeup b/c my mom had her makeup tatooed on. well, just the eye liner, some eyebrow highlights, and the lip liner, BUT she works in the temple so it must be ok right!!??!! right. that'z what i was saying;-)

Stephanie said...

not so much against the plan as it is against common sense. Stick to your guns, here. I know JJWT probably thinks it would be cool to have a hott wife always in make up, but I think you just need to humbly tell him it's your body and you'll be keeping it as is, thank you. My husband (when I had one) told me he'd love to pay for breast enlargements for me, so we had a similar "discussion." Finally I had to tell him, I'm happy with my b**bs as they are, and I'm sorry you're not, but this is how you chose me. You know? I don't know, TAMNy. It's a lot of money, and they might take your WIC away if they find out.

Oh TAMN, it's totally okay. Every house needs a little paint right? Oh...not that you need it...and you're way smaller than house!

My mom had it done- and she's like, old!
I would do it, if I wasn't totally petrified of needles- much less needles in my eye area!

Lyndsey said...

Um TAMN I hate to be mean but it just has to be said that tatooed make up is seriously so trashy even if it isn't against the plan!

mini-wheats said...

According to a teacher I had at school here at the Y of I...If you tattoo yourself or pierce yourself you will still have those permanent marks on you after the resurrection because you did that to yourself. (My teacher said that Pres. Kimball had a quote about that...however, I can't find it...so he may be wrong)

Libby said...

You'd always look perfect, TAMN, even right when you get out of bed in the morning! So cuters! But then you wouldn't be able to match your eyeliner to your Shades shirt. Such a dillemm!

NO! I do permanent make-up!! and i've had client after client ask they're bishop and they all say the same thing! NO WAY!

Tiffany said...

I say go for it girl! I wouldn't necessarily call it a "tattoo", maybe something a little less harsh like "permanent make-up". Let's be honest. Who doesn't hate having to put on their makeup every morning and then take it off every night. What a pain. I totally want it done.

Mariko said...

I have a friend who had her eyeliner tatooed on. This friend is much older, and she did it a while ago. Now her skin is slightly more saggy, and the tatoo looks like it's in the wrong place. It also started out black, and now it looks purple-y, which isn't really her color. Maybe she did it before they really perfected this technique, however.
I have another friend who tatooed her eyeliner without telling her husband, and he has NEVER NOTICED. I guess he really believes she looks perfect when she wakes up.

KJA said...

I read every comment - I changed my mind at least 5 times as I was reading.
Conclusion: I would not but I'm not TAMN - TAMN would justify her decision to have it done in order to fit her 'super fantastic so seriously blessed life'.

Julie de Azevedo Hanks said...

Wait! Maybe it's JJWT who's thinking about permanent makeup like a metrosexual or an Emo or sumethin, or he's having a quarter life crisis. Guys get plastic surgery, laser hair removal, waxing, so why not eyeliner that's real suttle? I'm not saying he should, but who are we to judge?

If you put make-up on every morning, what's the difference? My sister (the bishops wife) even had it done with her husbands blessing, because it saves her time in the morning, and who can't use time in the morning??
I think it is the best thing I have ever had done! It is NOT the same as a regular tatoo in my opinion!

Whitney R said...

I would be afraid that during the process they would miss and tatoo my eyeball. And how gross would that be to have a huge black mark on your eyeball. People would be telling you ALL the time that you have something your eye, something in your eye, doesn't that hurt? you have something in your eye. And every time you would have to tell them, NO, nothing is in my eye, it's just a cool tatoo. And then they would think you were a crazy person.

I'll just put it on every day - only takes me 25 seconds. Where if I didn't have to I would just spend the extra 25 seconds in the shower. And I already stay in till I get pruny, so I don't need the extra 25 seconds of water soakage.

You don't want to be one of those won-ton daughters with the twinkly toes, do you TAMN? Because it says in the scripchers that if you are now then in the resserrection you'll be totally frumptastic and stinky, and that's like FOREVER.

ETERNAL PROSPECTIVE!

TaLaisa said...

I think tattoos CAN be okay.

Like the Ricks College Football player I knew (but NOT in the biblical sense, ew. His name and the tat were listed in THE book at the Idaho Falls tattoo shop. My roomie was getting a tat, NOT Me. But I drove her. Does that make me guilty by association and enabling??)

Where was I? Oh yeah, He had a CTR crest on his behind. I imagine it was great for team morale to be reminded to Choose the Right while dressing for the game.

I think permanent make-up can be good if you use the time you save helping others. But for me the lines would be way to harsh and I'm so fickle about my color palettes and make-up application it's just better to get up before DH and put on the make-up then go back to bed.

That's a toughie. Cuz there is the rule of no tats, but you're going to be painting your face everyday anyway. I think it would be such a hugo time saver, that way you could do more service for other people/ ritchus stuff. That's got to count for something right?

Jami said...

Um... don't put a comma, where God put a period! DUHHH- No tatoo's period! Not, No tatoo's, unless they make you prettier! :)
