Yay! Turns out that if you spend all day every day
blogging &
facebooking &
spamming &
tweeting &
just generally e-preening,
when people ask you what you do you just say your "in social media" and suddenly it's like my darling blabbers make me Katie Currick or whoever & wah-la, a real job! Yay! Like devil wears prada kind of, plus kids, and the plan, and a better bod.facebooking &
spamming &
tweeting &
just generally e-preening,
but now i'm all conflicted, bc it's like i AM all about social media, but also at the same time i'm suspicous and judgy about real jobs, especially for girls.
Now this is getting really tricky.

a job? serious? no...I'm sure women with jobs need flash lights in the after life.
You should totes write a book or make a book out of your blog! I bet everyone would read it because you're so awesome!
Amen and amen.
(clap clap clap clap)
"E-preening" is gold. Pure, pure gold.
Social media isn't a "real job"? *scratches head*
;)
Blogging gets you a better bod? I need to stop working out and start bloggin'!!
That totally does make it sound like you're helping the world one blog at a time, which you really are, seriously.
I know how real jobs for girls can be suspicous, but think of it this way...are you getting payed for all the hours you spend in social media? If not, then it's not a job...it's volunteer work! And that looks soooo good with the ward. Plus Jesus likes it too.
This is the best post ever. I especially love the implication that Katie Couric doesn't have a real job.
TAMN, I just love you and all and no uffense, but like, maybe one day you'll figure out that you are working a real job and that's okay. Just saying.
:[
uh oh...does this mean that blogging is going to be out of fashion soon? I mean, once a cultural phenomenon becomes legitimate its so passe. They totally made a movie out of a 2002 blog! This can't be cool much longer. What is your plan for staying ahead of the fashion curve? How will you stay young/hip AND have a blog?
Um, not to judge, but you have a bunch of ads on your blog, which means your making money already. Some moms are totally fulfilled by their kids, but I guess your not. I love you anyway.
*frownsmile*
remember, its only evil to work OUT SIDE the home. you're still in the plan.
You're still staying home with your darling twinsies, so it's totally okay! You're just working from home, how is that different from selling Mary Kay/Scentsy/Pampered Chef?
getting paid to "e-preen" sounds like my idea of heaven.
Ur brand of social media is kinda like service. Just think of all the lives your blessing. & we all know service is what being a mom & a girl is all about.
As long as you're working from home and direct Glamma and Queenie as they take care of the babies it doesn't count as a real job. No worries needed!
Oh. My. Gosh.
If I see one more tweet or email or blog post about a SOCIAL MEDIA CONFERENCE or SOCIAL MEDIA BLAHBLAH I will scream.
I love you.
LOL! I swear everything I gripe to my friends about, you blog about like the next day. I hope you start begging for money to go to BlogHer and/or local lunch dates.
It's perfectly normal to be all "suspicious and judgy" about real jobs BEFORE you have one. The same is true of divorce, foreclosure, a kid with a C- average, or a husband with "gender confusion." Judge now, deal later. You can always make a strong case that your situation is different, and probably much worse, and in NO WAY your fault.
This one made me literally laugh out loud. I love how fearless you are in your mockery. I imagine the hate mail from the bloggers who are like "HEY! i AM in SOCIAL MEDIA!" will be fun. You go girl.
Hit. Nail. On. Head.
You are hillarious, and sooo professional. And just think how much you've already accomplished with virtually no training or expertise! What self-appointed title will you put on your business cards?
TAMN I stopped thinking of you as spiritually awesome and superior in every way long ago. Sorry but it is the truth, and isn't that a commandment or something to be honest.
I mean your blog was in City Weekly which is a gross liberal soft porn publication. Have you even seen the adds with the almost naked women they always have in there? Uh yeah you even have them linked on your blog *gag*
Whatever though, not all of us can perfect. I still read because at least your trying, failing, but still trying. I hope you can turn yourself around, because I am so not judgemental of people who do not know right from wrong.
Congrats on figuring out to justify your life to everybody you know (and a few people you don't)!
My wife says that the "plan" involves her not working. Is that right? If it is then JJWT is not honoring his man duties.
OH honey, it's just like Jon and Kate. They only totally do the series to "document their lives for their children". The money and extras like free trips to disney and hawaii are just bonuses.
Same with you. You are only doing this to keep a timeline for the twinsies. We just get to share.
The diff is you are a forever family. And Jon totally didn't speak Kate.
Its not working, its putting your kids in for day care that is a sin.
You are still totally monitoring every move that your twinkies make while they sit in their swings/bouncy-chairs/exersaucers 12 hours a day, right? So feel good that you can help support your man in providing for the physical needs of the family while you stay at home with the kids. After all, what would they do without you to wind the swings and/or replace the batteries?
I don't know about this "having a job" business and I totally agree with Christa. Do you want to spend eternity hunting for a scrap of glory in outer darkness? I have two peaces of advise for you.
1) Listen to that super-inspirational song "Which part is mine and which part is yours" Michael McClain on endless repeat until you figure out which part is yours (hint: it does not involve business cards)
2)Distance yourself from professional women by judging them! They (the women in business suits you see in the grocery store and don't know) don't know the stress of motherhood but they also don't know the blessings. Random Woman isn't couponnin' it up and she isn't buying any cream of chicken soup so she probably eats take-out alone all the time wishing she had your fulfillment. Once you REALLY define that distinction between you and the imaginary other you'll remember how important it is to stay out of that grey area of working/motherhood!
I think the more important thing you should have blogged about is how you are also a farmer. Doesn't everyone on Facebook have a farm?
You mean I could paid to do this?
Hahaha! Social media, e-preening. Hilarious. Love it. Love your brilliant writing. XOXO, D.
And, you are right to be suspicious and judgy about jobs for women, because women are allowed only one job choice-- homemaking. This involves, cooking, cleaning, and breeding. Anything else is against the plan. The Ensign says so ; it must be true. :-) XOXO, d.
So, if your into social media, then that makes you are a social mediator! Sounds so philanthropic.
haha social media! I'll add it to my resume in that case!
e-preening...don't know what that is...help!
I'm a little surprised you knew how to use the word "befuddled" ;)
well, you could also do surveys... or be an "undercover shopper"
LOL-- All I can say is, "I'm gonna need a really good flashlight."
:/
"e-preening," I love you.
"real jobs" are real overrated.
e-preening is my new fave term. thank you for it.
Ha! Love this!
