you GUYS!

No WAY was yesterday's post an announcement!!!!!!

Let's be honest {w/o sharing TMI}.

We decided to "start trying" last nite {which was amazing} but then this morning I found out about a marathon I wanna train for bc one of the MiaMaids texted me that Lynzii is, so we're not trying anymore. But I will let you know and maybe even put up an ovulation ticker so you feel PART OF EVERYTHING. And now since we're not trying I decided to do this new diet you may have heard of! NOT bc I need to lose the ell-bees {I so don't} just for the challenge.

This new diet rocks and involves {not even kidding}

1. binge-ing w/ fatty fat fat foods for like 3 days
2. injecting myself w/ preggo hormones every day
3. only eat 500 calories a day for a month!

doesn't that sound HEALTHY and AWESOME?

Oh, wow. This isn't really a real craze, is it? IS IT?

Goob said...

So healthy and totally works! (if you count "works" as meaning you'll be successfully parted with a crap load of money and no weight loss that anybody can see...seen this one at least one time in the fam already. Suckers.)

kris said...

Hahah! This is TOTALLY a real thing. My neighbors are into it, and I think that's exactly how it works (binge, hormones, 500 calories).

Wow is right.

Steven Nordstrom said...

dieting while training for a marathon is a recipe for disaster. Unless by training for a marathon you actually do not intend to run all that much, if at all. Then, dieting would probably work. But not that diet. Whatever happened to portion control, eating mostly raw foods, and making sure you get variety and balance?

JenB said...

Wouldn't it be less work to eat right and have yummy nummy treats once in a while?

Unknown said...

You rawk!?! You'll be sooper skinny for your training and the burth of your new feti you'll be planning for! Fer shur. It'll be perfect because you'll be in the hospital anyway when your body stops funk-shoning!

So, SO healthy, TAMN. Math's hard, but can you really loose wait if your only eating 500 cals/day? It HAS to work, because my DOCTOR told me it would.

Jesse C said...

Fer reals, this diet is da bomb.com!

Mrs.EBG said...

Totally healthy, NATURAL, AND awesome! And to think, I had to lose all of my weight by watching what I eat and exercising, if only I'd known about this totally fab diet before!

Tami said...

Tamn, count me in! Sounds like it goes right along with the WOW. I am sure that we will all look almost as good as you at the end of the month. You rock, thanks for sharing.

Shannon said...

I am prolly the only one of all my friends and family that hasn't done the HCG diet. What is with this new trend? I enjoy my 500 calorie meals, not days, thank you very much.

Anonymous said...

Seriously, half my ward is on this "diet". !!

Chelsea said...

People actually do this? Seriously?

Brian and Janette said...

So glad I told you about the HCG diet so you would stop doing those nasty cleanses. Who wants to look at that stuff anyway?!?! This way when you eat pretty much nothing, you won't have to look at much disgusting stuff at all! So cool!

Jeannie said...

TAMN, think about it, we already do the HCG diet.

1.Stuff ourselves at Cheesecake factory.
2.Snuggle that night (where preggo hormones are inserted, kinda)
3.Drink only diet coke the day after.

Repeat.

CaitStClair said...

Oh my goodness! I did NOT know that was a "real" diet! I thought you were making it up to sound ridiculous or at least exaggerating. Good grief! The things some people will buy into amazes me.

Maya said...

oh my gosh. i though this was made up. i want to puke. where do ppl even get the injections, anyway? is this another utah thing?

Anonymous said...

dont do it tamn!!! i have 3 friends who gained EVERYTHING back and then some! watch out!

Anonymous said...

We have so much in common TAMN! I am on that same diet and it sucks but we will have awesome bods together! I ran a marathon last weekend and I am running another one next week! It is so hard to be us isnt it?

Madame Palmkey said...

It's all very well to run a marathon because Lyndzii is but remember you don't want to do it and then have her beat you, how seriously sad is that? So either you have to be super fit so you can frownsmile when she walks across the finish line way after you or you need to do something way harder like an olympic length triathon.

I am genuinely horrified to learn this is a real diet, though the three days of binging does sound fun.

Kestrel said...

Jeannie, I think I love you and your comment.

According to Ana said...

Ha thank the heavens that some one else thinks this diet it awesome. I can't tell you how many people in our ward are doing it. In fact the Doctor is in in the ward too so you know he is on the straight and Narrow.

Suz said...

OH MY GOSH! This was one of my favorite posts, so right on (the "trying" then marathon then pathetic diet.) Wow. Bless your heart, TAMN, I love you.

Melissa Durtschi said...

The HCG diet???...

That was SERIOUSLY sO last month...

Heidi Totten said...

Worked for me. Lost 25 pounds doing it. Just sayin'!

Science Teacher Mommy said...

Please keep us up-to-date about the marathon training, because, you know, that kind of thing is fascinating.

Unknown said...

sad.
What about us frumpy spinsties? Where do we get the preggo hormones from?? Since I can't use Jeannie's method. Seriously TAMN, I leave for Vermont in TWO DAYS!! If I don't go on this diet how will I ever find my JJWT? I might actually have to GRADUATE from LAW SCHOOL!!! UGH! I'LL BE SUCH A RUTH!!!!!!!!!! OR YVETTE FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Laurel said...

Oh yes, and very sustainable. And natural...? (Since preggo hormones are natural when you're preggo.) Some people might say this diet is lame-o for many reasons, but one being that ANYONE consuming only 500 calories a day will lose weight (and muscle mass), but I'm glad you don't listen to those downers. Have fun with the shots and starvation!

Misty said...

I think that totally fits into the WOW! 500 calories a day!? HELLO! Sign me up! I was going to go the laxative route, but now maybe I'll try this injecting of hormones and binge-fest. Sounds SOLID!!!!

Lynnette said...

seriously just spit my diet coke everywhere. who wouldn't lose weight on 500 calories a day?

Laurel said...

P.S. And remember, it's not enough to adopt new, fanatical ways of eating for yourself. You MUST preach this diet to others and get converts. It's okay to be pushy - it's for their own good. Start with people in your ward.

Avree said...

Love it! I actually just heard about this diet from my mom this morning! She told me a bunch of ladies in her ward are doing it and that they're calling it the Doctor's Diet because a lot of doctors in St. George are offering it. Who would have thought only eating 500 calories a day would make you lose weight? It's ingenious! But I'm pretty sure I've heard of a similar diet...oh yeah, it's called starving yourself, it totally works!

Mal Pal said...

A couple girls in my ward are on this diet where you take 10 bites a day. To give you an idea of the size of an acceptable bite: one regular snickers bars is 5 bites. When I started laughing at them, they got all crazy and said "it REALLY works!!!" I love that line. Like duh. Of course it will work you morons, so does smoking, doing crack, and having your legs amputated.

LCFrohm said...

it's totally not a Molly/Peter diet. because you totally have to drink a butt load of green tea (how else is your body suppose to work on 500 calories a day?!)
it's ridonculous! although my BIL and his sister have lost serious weight with it.
i'd rather be a fatty!

keighty said...

seriously-- where are people getting the hormones??

Matt and Jennae Porter said...

Seriously TAMN, you are going to eat 500 calories in one day? Good thing you are training for a marathon also. I'm just saying.

jdb in AZ said...

Have you heard of the banana diet? That's all you eat. But come to think about it, I've never seen a skinny gorilla.

Kerri said...

Just today I was thinking you needed to start running. No lie.

Muum said...

INjections? oh my. I am on the chocolate addict diet, and happy as a (fat little) clam. :)

I LOVE that diet, but I usually don't make it past step one. :[

Tarnation said...

I'm bulimic. I just forget to throw-up.

Megan said...

Ovulation ticker? Wow, that just made my day.

missOlea said...

Ah, I laughed so hard at Matt and Jennae Porter's comment. "Just Saying". hahaha

And I thought you made up that crazy diet - for someone who wasn't sure about vaccinating her babies, you sure are handling the "daily injection" thing well.

Unknown said...

I am new to this blog - but already laughing and loving it so much that I will reccomend it to all my friends. The diet thing is hilarious - except for the fact that there are so many people out there who are becoming "converted" to it! Sad stuff. Keep up the great blog, TAMN.

Kari Beth said...

I worked at a wedding dress shop in St George and sold some dresses a few sizes too small cause the brides were going to do this diet...

the seamstresses loved it. lots of extra work and rush fees for them....

Unknown said...

lol I think this is great loved the post and the comments. I agree with Token asian friend never make it past the binge.

Stacia said...

I know several people in my ward that are doing this. So dangerous! Some day we will have to visit teach these moms in prison some day for illegally distributing prescription drugs!

{krista} said...

Didn't you hear that if you take the hormone injections, you will gain tons of weight back when you quit. I wouldn't do it if I were you. Besides, SHOTS? Ew... what if they left a mark?

Amalie said...

is that seriously a diet because that is scary. and the part that made me laugh out loud was you stopped "trying" one day after starting.

Lisa said...

Hubbers has done this "diet" 3 or 4 times now - and he's about 15 ell-bees bigger! Why people think it is so wunderful and healthy is WAY bee-ond me!
Don't do it TAMN - just stick with your Diet Coke diet!

Anna said...

Oh Em Gee LYNZII is doing something *before* you get a chance to have the limelite? Oh no she didn't! I can totally see why you hate her becuz she's probably the snobbiest person since she's just like you only more so. Wait...

Em said...

BAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!! all of my cousins did that diet! funny thing about it though...hcg does 2 things:
1. makes you MORE hungry.
2. makes you store MORE fat (to store for healthy birth and breastmilk).
sheesh! funny what people can learn if they actually THINK before they do;-)

dharvey said...

Ovulation tickers. LOL ! What on earth are people thinking? Way TMI. XOXO, D.

Beckie said...

I think there might be another part you are missing. I was told that you are NOT allowed to workout!
They don't want you using too many calories up.
You won't have ANY energy to walk, let alone exercise!
How's that for a serious life change?

Little Lovables said...

Does "not trying" mean you are not using any form of pregnancy prevention and putting it in God's hands without being totally decided you want to have a baby?

'cuz that's the technical term for "not trying" 'roud these parts.

Janice said...

TAMN, you and I must have the same blog reading/stalking lists... this is the same thing I've been seeing for months now! I just didn't think that you needed to lose more than 5 ell-bees, let along the 40 or more that some people have lost! Are you competing with Alivyiah already?

Just saying...

Darcie said...

What?! MEN are having pregnancy hormones injected into their bodies? Does this disturb anyone else?

Frau said...

I used to be on this diet - except I didn't do the hormones too. I don't want to scare you, but do you really think they suck that HCG out of preggy women? It's artificial and not natural so it's your choice, but I heard of a woman whose cousin's sister-in-law's aunt did this diet and she sprouted five extra hands, started walking backwards, could only sing 20's jazz instead of hymns AND HAD A ZIT!

Gina said...

Wow, I'm surprised to see how many HCG haters are out there! Especially when there are so many who are hearing about it for the first time and the only information they have is the three lines given here. I'll admit, when I first heard about it I thought it sounded crazy, but then when I read into it, I learned why and how it works (and yes, it does work!) then it made a lot more sense to me. Just eating 500 calories a day without HCG is impossible and you would lose all your lean muscle mass first. The HCG releases your abnormal fat cells so your energy you get throughout the day is from that. And no, you are not starving, most people say they feel great! And just like any diet, if you just go back to your old eating habits, your going to get fat again. But I know people who have kept it off entirely and some who have kept most of it off, and some who have gained it all back. It's not that it doesn't work, it's that people aren't willing to make the necessary life changes to maintain their weight.

sarahbclark! said...

blah blah blah. you only get to binge for 2 days!
honestly though, it worked awesome for me, i lost 15 lbs, and have kept it off. boo-yah.

kris said...

I love stuff like this. And I love people who are like, "NO, SERIOUSLY, IT WORKS!!!!!"

Whether it "works" or not, it's obviously an absurd diet.

TAMN, when this gives you hives or eleven toes or whatever else untested hormone injections can do, promise me you'll go back to eating lettuce and kleenex and diet coke by day and ben and jerry's by night.

Megan Gery said...

sheesh.

So I looked this diet up (thought it had to be a joke). A few interesting things to note:

1. One way to obtain HCG for injection is from the urine of pregnant women. Wish I would have known that a few months ago! I'd have been rich!

2. This is the equivalent of 500 calories/day: only coffee or tea for breakfast (with max of 1 TBSP milk and no sugar). For lunch and dinner, you can eat .22 pounds of a lean meat with 1 veggie (nothing like corn or carrots, of course. Choose an onion or cabbage or radishes). Or, if that's too much work, you may eat one toast cracker and an orange instead. Yummy!

3. There is no substantial evidence that HCG shots are safe over an extended period of time. You can consider yourself a pioneer of science!

Brittney said...

Was waiting for the HCG post. This stuff is huge in southern Utah for some reason. I can see the draw to losing weight, sure... but lets get it straight here - we all read the scriptures and the tips it gives on living healthily right??? Where's the "shoot up with hormones" part? Must be in the egyptian drawings I never look at.

Anonymous said...

I don't get it--when I was pregnant, I totally gained weight! I guess I forgot about the 500-calories-a-day part. Too bad for my poor obese fetus.

The Snow Queen said...

My friends just told me to do this diet yesterday! (Seriously) She's totally skinny, and I don't think that I'm allowed to go to the "Girls Night Out" anymore because I like to eat what they leave on their plates. Do you think she thinks I'm fat? What was she really trying to say?

Kayla Cooks said...

Sheesh, Gina, don't be such a killjoy! This diet is completely absurd!

You've really been on your game lately, TAMN. Tons of great posts with absolutely HILARIOUS comments!

dharvey said...

Cannot believe how many people in Utah are on this so-called "diet." Last month, they did the Master Cleanse. This month, it's the preggo hormones diet. Utahns go from diet to diet, because they gain all the weight back after they're off the diet. Next month, it'll be something else. Tamn, you're right on, as usual. XOXO, D.

Little Lovables said...

I do remember reading in the Ensign a while back, to stay clear of fad diets, as well as fad get rich quick schemes (when is that post coming TAMN!?)

but by the way, you posted this on a Wednesday... so when the heck are you goin to do a Wordless Wednesday post, girl?

: ) Paula said...

Who needs a new diet? Not I. I've heard that blogging burns as many calories as training for a marathon. The ell-bees just melt off of me when I sit at the computer all day long, seriously.

Vanessa said...

Damn Tamn (I am sorry it rhymed) I feel like you make fun of everything I like or do.

Trying to remember to laugh at myself...

Not leave feeling stupid...
