Bubbly (sub)Urban Nourish Chicas, Okiedokie?!

Hi guys, did you catch my secret message?? The 1rst letter in each word of the post name spells what I love LOVE loved doing last night, get it? Think about it you guys! GET IT?? Baaaaaaaaa! Sometimes I clap and sing it to the tune of Bee Eye Enn Gee Oh, and hostess was my name-O! :) Yay I heart Bunco! Or Bunko! C or K, total konundrum. Either way, definitely TAMNed up my nite to hostess!

Just a sec, need to major vent: it makes my heart ashamed when people say Bunco is gambling because it is NOT even close, and since I've never received counsel on it from the two places I consider binding and official (confrince and email) it's totally fine. If I get a fwd on it I may reconsider, but seriously, LOVE IT, and NOT just because it's all luck and no skill ok? SO much fun to just let all my adult responsibilities go and de-wind, relax and get silly with my girlies and my besties. Chose the theme of Cowgirl Beach Vaycay, mostly so we could watch a slideshow of all the times JJWT and me've horsebackrid on the beach, PLUS we all got wear our modest bikinis and big hats and cute pigtails and huge beltbuckles and blast country and I made an adorable wooden sign that says "Bunco-ing Bronco Time, Cowgirlz only!" We glued teensy glittery cowboy-hat confetti on each other's cheeks with special cleansing/pore minimizing facial glue (sparkling beyond belief = serious guilty pleasure), THEN yelled "Yee-haw!" when we got Bunc/kos and all sang along superloud with every Tim/Keith song and carry-okeed to tons of Rascal and ate nummy veggie-steaks! My prizes were rhinestone cowboy boots which caused everyone to majorly covet. I got the highest score (HAPPY DANCE!) and LIKE her life's not sad enough, Yvette (spinsty) got the lowest AND the boots were too small for her ginormous feet...whoooops. One of my secret greatest slash most abiding wishes is that one day Yvette will be sick so Rachael Ray will sub w/ our group. P.S. the bikinis were way fun bc everyone L-O-V-E-D my baby bump and said I looked skinny, which I BETTER, because I've only eaten prenates, Orbitz and lite microwave pawcorn for the last 3 days and I feel cuter than ever...yum! Moral of the story: Mommy loves Bunco, baby loves Orville.

OMGosh I heart Bunco! Should I purposely refrain from fwding you the fwd i got about bunco so you can feign righteous ignorance? Bikinis are the best, and pawcorn is soooo good for babies. Love you.

Look, I don't want to be rude, but I asked you last nite and I'll ask you again: Quit calling me Spinsty.

Wow. This post totally made me feel like a bad Mormon women, since I've never played Bunco. I don't know anyone who has either. I'm like 6 degrees of separation away from Bunco, and therefore, the Lord.

I probably shouldn't admit this, but I've never scrapbooked either! I was really nervous last week, in my temple recommend interview, that they and changed things up and were going to bring up scrapbooking, but fortunately, they never did.

TAMN, *I* glued cowboy hat confetti on everyone's cheeks at MY Bunco. Did you steal my idea??

TAMN, Yvette is now officially my favorite friend of yours (I feel so sorry for her). Maybe next GNO can be a makeover for Yvette! Also, loved the "smiley frown" from last post. Genius.

Ok, whoever you are, you must have the inside track on each and every aspect of Mo-womanhood because this Bunco post is right on...you amaze me.

rachael ray has the nummiest veggie-steak recipe ever.

OMgosh! I heard if you eat baby food while you are preggers you won't gain any weight because the baby gets it all. It is BABY food.

I'm sure you look totally skinny - start eating those strained veggies and stuff and you will stay that way!

I'm with Kristina, never played Buncko. But I have a lifelong goal that I will accomplish someday in my lifetime; Finish a full game of Monopoly. Anyone actually finish and how long did it take? I need to start planning.

EmandZachsmom said...

Very fun! I too have not played Buncko but I think I need to start!!!

Oh Boise! Bunco is so totally gambling. My bish totally (verbally) spanked our ward Bunco group in a 5th Sunday Combined Meeting.

I will totally have to send you an email fwd about it (that I typed up). Right after I send you the one about how cute The 12 are when they argue with each other in the temple.

cheri said...

Uh oh. I'm in a Bunco group that I love dearly. Should I be proud, ashamed or a weird combination of both? Do you have any more of the rhinestone boots left, preferably in a 13W?

OMGosh, how did I go to BYU for 4 years and never play Bunc/ko?? I must have had rilly uncute freinds. But dont worry, TAMN, I looked it up on Wiki, and it doesnt say ANYTHING about not getting into the celestal kingdom b/cuz of Bunc/ko. Now I want to play but I live in Englend and no one here plays it! We have to move back to Ziyun! Heart you!

How can I go on a cowboy beach vacay???? I'm not sure what it is, but it sounds like so much fun! Do you do anything more than horseback riding on the beach? We need more deets about these fab vacays!!

Renee said...

Bunco isn't gambling as long as everyone wins. Since they're getting to hang out with you, I think that counts.

Hey TAMN TAMN,

I left my pink sequined Stetson at your place. I'll pick it up from you at your Accentz/Shade/Pampered Chef/Southern Living/Modest Lingerie Party/ baby shower this weekend. Your party was the bomb!

rachael said...

Way to go. You got the "Bingo" song stuck in my head.

Can I borrow your Bunco-ing Bronco sign for MY cowgirl beach vaycay party next month??

I do think your blog is funny...but when commenters go too far...please remove them.

"the one about how cute The 12 are when they argue with each other in the temple"

That's when it's just not funny anymore.

Oh wow I so heart Bunco, I love those poofy dice and hollering "bunco!" every single round!

Seriously so BUNCO!! I heard Steve Martin say that Bunco was not gambling because there are no face cards involved, and he is the bestest and most famousest member of the church. See, it is easy to learn the gospel. Face cards = evil. I know this with every fiber of my bean.

Brittany Marie said...

Dear anonymous,

I actually got that email. And just like this blog, my remark was funny because it's true.

Susan said...

Steve Martin isn't a member!

What???!!!!!

Dear chelle,

"i do agree with anonymous, let's not bring those sweet men into this out of respect..."

*sigh* It was a reference to an actual email I received.

I said that because I think people should stop forwarding ridiculous emails and verbally passing around stupid LDS folklore all together. (Like the story about the 3 nephites and the sister missionary they saved from a rapist, or the one about the prophet telling the couple in the temple to sell her wedding ring and buy food storage.)

As I said, the email about "12 arguing in the temple", was something I actually got. It was about how they disagree in their meetings and how sweet and funny it is because aren't they just like us? They're like real people!

Until the day comes when members stop believing the superfun faith-building rumors they tell each other, I will happily make fun of them.

Oh My Heck, Bunco is kind of not totally righteous. Be careful. One of our Bunco girls was seriously sneaking slashes and adding points and we caught her, and she was primary prez even. The temptation for the awesomest prize can be too much for some competitive and just risky. Plus the bishop warnings, well, you know.

It is so awesome that you love popcorn-a-poppin. Yur baby will probably totally be birthed craving popcorn. You can pop it and like, mush it up. My babies have always ate the thigns I craved. Good for you for eating such natural roughage.

Bella said...

i've never played bunco, but i LOVE to bedazzle!!! so let me know if you want me to help out decorating any of your prizes!

I totally agree with annonymous as well. The comment about the 12 arguing in the temple was disrespectful, no matter what justification the commenter gives to that comment.

I do like your blog, makes me laugh really hard! Some of the comments though. . .

Plz name your baby Orville.

I think pawcorn totally counts as a grain, and plus yur using meat sparingly, so bonus!

Bunco is a blast, but I get so mad because I have the worst luck...so to save myself...I had to band bunco. Perhaps I'll have better luck in the CK!

Props to you!

Sher said...

Wait a sec! I played Bunco last night.
Do I know you.....?

Mallory said...

I'm totally emberassed for you for not knowing this, but im only going to tell you this because I LOVE YA and I dont want you to get emberassed again... Bunco is NOT allowed by church members, here in Utah. It was totally cool back in Idaho, but once I came to UT the first counselor in the Steak told me that we DONT play Bunco here. (Ok but seriously... that's a TRUE story)

Give Brittany (I do not know this girl) a break. In a class I took from Bott (I think it was Bott's class) at BYU he said something similar that decisions made by the 12 aren't just concluded at the instant the issue is brought up. There is always a lot of polite discussion. When you get 12 incredibly intelligent people in a room with very different backgrounds, of course there is discussion. Some well-intending email writer that Brittany is referring to called it "arguing" which I am sure it isn't but we don't always use the best words, do we.

But, she was making fun of an email. This does not mitigate anyone's reverence for The Twelve.

Now quit arguing or we are going to make TAMN cry!

Mel said...

Oh my TAMN! Am I jealous or what?! I soooo want to play BUNCO but I'm not fortunate enough to live in Utah so all my friends and neighbors that play serve wine at their BUNCO parties. So sad! Would it be a sin if I started a group with my RS sisters? They've never addressed BUNCO in our meetings....Probably because I live out in the mission field and the rules are sometimes different.
