epi or earthy?

Seriously!
Can't believe I only have four to five mos left until I can swaddle my feti!!

It's like waiting for Santa the night before Christmas! Except my feti aren't fictional, and it won't be winter, and I don't birth Santa. And my darling birth canal is way teensy compared to a chimney. But whatever. Soooo greatful and blessed to have the best feti, husband, womb, and life EVER.

But now I'm in a total conundrum/dilem. What to do??? Get a blow-up tub and have JJWT climb in too and bring the feti out in our living room w/ a happy-hippie midwife?? Or get an epidural BEFORE the pain starts just to be safe bc God made anastasia for a reason?? Or, do I plan for a natural unmedicated birth, then scream for drugs, then swear JJWT to secrecy and PRETEND I went natural?? Schedule a Ceasar salad section, like the celebs?? OR, just have faith that my sweet feti just come out on their own, pain-free!?? Does anyone have any idea how many points it would be if I seriously ate the placenta??!

Have tons of Qs and e-BFFs, need you!!!!! Don't dare ask the grump-n-frump chicks I VT, and don't rilly want everyone in my wives club to know I'm wondering, bc once I decide, I want to say that it's what I've wanted since my OWN birth. Plz help!

I'd choose that one based on Anastasia.

But I had the Ceasar Salad myself. Twice. Highly recommend. My gynie did no stretch like a chimney.

TAWM, as a totally hip and fashioanble mom with a series of children I totally have a testimony about anastasia. I would suggest getting the epidural NOW...Just to make sure it is in place before labor comes because twins sometimes arrive early..plus TotTally helps relax, which you should do a lot of now.

Brooke said...

I two had a ceasar salad selection. It was painful at first, but for you, I'm sure there would be no pain. Then you can go back to wearing your modest bikini (because of course you wouldn't have any strech marcks either), and you wouldn't be all streched out down where the dtd looks.

Go with the Hippie mid-wife! There's nothing more spiritual than sitting in a blow-up pool with your hawt hubbie giving birth to your hawt feti to the smell of incense burning!

I would love to see TAMN turn into a crunchy mom, but just don't know how the crash diets, highlights and pedis jive.

Just praying they come out on their own is awesome.

Yikes. It's embarrassing how excited I am for what the future holds for you.

I would love to hear of TAMN's experience giving birth in a big tub in your living room. Just make sure that if you do it with a hippie midwife to make sure you get NO education whatsoever about childbirth so that you are totally shocked when it is painful and incredibly messy.

Only four more months? Man, the time has flown!

lara said...

TAMN, here is the dealy. You should totally schedule a day spa for the "big day", which you will totally know when it will be, becuz you will be scheduled to be induced (At the day spa they put people to sleep all the time for "procedures" so I am sure it would be no problem to have the medication you will need). That way you can have the epi before hand, soak in a nice warm tub with JJWT while you both get a facial and mani/pedi. When it is time for the feti to arrive you will have a glow about you like nunother! That would be the most NATURAL thing you could do for the beautiful spirits who will come. Don't you want the first thing they see to be their hot momma lookin her bestest? As far as the placenta, I would totally save it in my freezer for food storage. Nothing more pure than that.

M.Howerton said...

since I am prolly one of your grump n frump chicks u VT cuz i'm a geezer with like 5 kids - I TOTALLY recommend anastasia!! I had it 3 times and could not enjoy the most spiritual experience with having precious babies without it!
There will be no judging- Promise!

Get an epidural, then pretend it didn't work. You'll get tons of sympathy and WAY more gifts when your done!!

No matter what you decide, tell everyone you went natural. Then you can say "It was honestly the hardest thing I've ever done, but it was sooo worth it" and everyone will look up to you with the utmost respect.

epidural. you don't want a scar to ruin your perfect stomach, and gross! having your baby at home would be painful and disgusting.

Carina said...

You should get the anastasia because your body is seriously gross when it's having a baby--like seriously.

Lots of people like to tell me "Your body knows what it's doing" and "Inductions, c-sections and epidurals increase your risk of complications and may have adverse effects on the baby" and I'm ALL WHAT EVS!!!! NO PAIN BAYBEE!! Because you SERISOULY need to take the drugs! THEIR AWESOME!

Paige said...

Totally go with the Caesar Salad. Then you can totally get a little tummy tuck while you are in there and come out looking even BETTER than you did before, without having to do any gross crunches. Heck, you could wear your modest bikini home from the hospital!

LJ said...

Tamn, I'm weeping with laughter here. If you eat the placenta, I'll mail you a dollar.

Callie said...

TAMN, with your oodles of faith you def don't need the drugs. Your hott feti will get born and you will barely know it happened. I bet they are so well behaved thanks to your awesome mommying skillz that they are dressed and shining before you even know your tiny small prego belly is gone!

Whitney R said...

I say have them stick a needle in your back and then take a nap or play cards till they tell you to push.

That way, you get your beauty sleep for when they take your picture RIGHT after the baby is born and you won't look all sweaty and gross. And you wont have that nasty scar that a Ceasar would give you. Cause then you might not be able to wear your modest BIkini. You'd have to actually get a modest ONE PIECE! I know. I know.

Your welcome for bringing this to light.

Lots of good sex before you go into labor is always nice and helps stretch things out down under. Then drugs drugs drugs. Sex, drugs and rock and roll . Its got a place in Heaven.

Mary said...

Just be thankful that you aren't birthing vampire twins that would totally scar as they clawed there way out. Bella totally has scars...even if she is a way hot vamp now.
Go for the epi, no one looks hot when they are screaming in pain!

Um, I hate to say this, TAMN, but I think you went over the line with this post. Talking about icky (birth canals) and birth in a tub. And it prompted someone to post the "s" word. Eew.

But sincya axed, you have to schedule a c-section to avoid becoming a grump-n-frump chick you're self. I mean, how do U think they got that way?

Having had one with the eppy and one catapult herself from my body minutes after reaching the hospital, I would TTLY reccamind the eppy.
With my first born I was all comfy cozy, layd back and was all chillaxin' B4 meeting my little stud muff. He was super happy when he came out and I seriously got loadz of rest while he was sleeping off the meds.
With my hi mainty princess we were both screaming at eachother from the the pain. She was so fast I almost ruined my mani catching her myself cuz my dtd was snoozin' at 3AM. (Ummm....that is another thing, you need to have a signed contract with your own dtd that he will NOT sleep and will be on call for like the hole munth B4 the do date) Anyway, luckily my hubby took over and screamed for the nurse before I could do serious damage to the nailz. Cuz ewww...you don't ever want your feti to see you with nasty handz. The YW manule teaches how being clean=richusness. So you have to keep u2d with your manis for the feti to truly worship you.

LKC said...

NOt to judge or anything, but only second-rate women need anastasia during childbirth. If you want to be a good mother, you will deliver the feti au-natural. And if you're righteous enough, you won't have any pain.

Maybe you'll talk about this later, but you MUST breastfeed for at least 18months or else the twinners will be seriously developmentally challenged. And don't even CONSIDER giving them formula--they might get brain damage or something.

Jules AF said...

Please have pictures of you in the tub with your husband after the birth. Yeah, with all the afterbirth in there too. It doesn't count as nudity if you're giving birth or breastfeeding!

By the way, I never heard what you are having? I know that you are like Four to Five months away, you must have had your ultra by now detecting the studness/princessness of your baby bundles.

Ok seriously. Have any of these other women ever HAD twins? Thats a whole different ballpark, honeychild. I dont care how many individual children you have birthed naturally, c-sectiony, or epidurally, having two bodies come out of you at the same time (relatively speaking)is a completely dif experience. As a mother of real-life 5 month old twins that I pushed out of me individually: Do whatever will keep you sane. It will be a completely mind altering experience no matter what. And guess what, its not gonna be all happy slappy pregnancy either. I was on bedrest for 3 months. thats right. Just expect NOTHING to go according to plan. Thats what I suggest. Sorry to be a downer but you needed to hear the truth. :)

Awesome idea! It's all about how you'll tell the birth story anyway. A great time to share your birth story and how brave you were when the epi didn't work is when you're out with the girls at Cafe Rio. Be sure to talk really loudly so everyone in the restaurant can hear the details too and lose their appetite.

TAMN,
You have other options besides the Epi and a Caesar Salad. I recommend an IV with fentanyl. It kills a lot of the pain of contractions and makes you feel wonderful. When the feti are coming out your doctor can numb you down below and you’ll feel very little pain and can immediately jump for joy from your hospital bed when the blessed duo enter the world. Fentanyl is a wonderful drug. I think one of the commandments should say, “Thou shalt have immediate and easy access to fentanyl on bad hair days, when you’ve torn a nail doing nasty housework, or upon noticing your highlights are growing out.
I don’t recommend the natural route having been there myself once. However if you decide on that, during contractions you can practice your way righteous screams of “Chastity never faileth.” You can also easily get through the young women’s motto and many memorized scriptures in your totally celestial brain. When the feti are born the spirit will be so strong from your exclamations of faith that up in the heavens your halo will be upgraded from gold to platinum.

Charlene said...

Make the choice for drugs now, now, now! Totally did it both ways, and full of drugs is SOOOO much better.

Besides, when you're full of drugs, others HAVE TO wait on you...you're not allowed out of bed. And, what laboring mom wants to be getting her own ice chips????

Um, there was a reason why God made modern medicine! EPI ALL THE WAY. OR just be like me and have c-section, be knocked out and not feel an thing, but then you miss the miraculous, pot roast coming out of a 10 centimeter whole, and all the love you feel for the little bugger that put your though so much pain!!!! A few house later you then feel the love that all moms talk about!

TAMN, I'm totally sure you won't even have time to have an EPI, your super-toned abs will just slide those little kiddos out the second you get to the hospital! Then you can tell everyone how your delivery was SO much worse than everyone else's, because you had to go through like 24 hours of labor all crammed into 10 minutes!

And really, it's all about "winning" with your birth story, isn't it?

And then you can bare your testimony about how thankful you are that because you are so righteous and live so perfectly you can give birth so much better than all the other moms who have to have icky meds and all...or even have to take icky meds to even GET a baby and how you know that if the other ladies would just be a little bit more righteous like you they too could have your amazing birthing experiences...but be sure to hint that you had an experience so sacred you wouldn't dare share it over the pulpit. People LOVE it when people who are so righteous let them know that they are super duper righteous and have stuff happen so special they can't tell about it!

You should no that if you just pray hard enough, you wont feel any pain at all! And having them in the tub is the ONLY way to go. It is the natural way, since they are already like little fish with gills inside you. If you focus on those things, it will be a breeze!

Well, after having gone through 51 hours of labor myself and then opting for a c-section, let me tell you that if you have a c-section everyone in the world is going to tell you that--

"Birth is so natural" and if I'd just let my body do its thing, I would have been able to avoid a c-section.

So, in case you don't want to hear all about how "natural" babies are cuter and how their moms love them more because they "sacrificed" for them and how they bond so much better, I'd stay away from the Caesar Salad Section.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go "bond" with my baby. To try and make up for all that she missed by not coming out of my body "the way God intended it."

You can do it-- just relax and visualize. That's all you have to do. :)

Pain meds, Girlfriend! Labor and delivery is baaad for the skin. All that stress and crinkling and wrinkling of the face from the pain. And screaming and grunting ---so not cute! JJWT will be there with a video cam, right?

Tottally go for the epi. I tried the whole natural\/staydal route with my first and that is a crock. why put yourself threw that. like you said god made the annasetia for a reason. don't you want to be happy and alert when you first lay your eyes one your perfect babies! Any other route (other than epi) you are all worn out and groggy, ect. Tottally go with the epi. TRUST ME!!!!

Prepare for your birth like you would a pedicure: Check out your options, and choose what's best for you. Especially with twins, you will need to be sure they could handle a natural birth: size, position, color of hair.
In any case, go to some childbirth classes to prepare yourself!

I say go with the hippie. I am 24 and have now had both of my sweet little girls that way...and I've gotta say it's the best decision we've ever made!!! If you live in the Boise area...our midwife has delivered multiple sets of twins. She's amazing. Get ahold of me through Amber or Mike.

Paula -- CutieFruity said...

well, it's twins Tamn, do you really think you have all these options? They will probably want to slice your beautiful belly open.

I don't understand why anyone would want to go natural. For bragging rights? NO.THANKS. My Dh won't let me go w/o the epi. He can't handle my pain. Like HE'S the one squeezing the thing out of his chimney.

Just say a prayer that the feti will cooperate pain free. Everything works out for you in the end! Of course!

Can't believe that no one has mentioned how the babies will look!

If you have a c-s, they will have such nice round faces! The other way, they will be all red-faced, bruised, and squished! I can totally tell by looking at a newborn how they were born. So your scar and pain will be there gain!

TAMN,

love you and am so great full you are intune with the spirit and followed the promtings to change the music on your blog. I was getting way bored of that one song that would play first, and now it's gone! I now have a stronger testimony of prayer B cause of you!

You know, I just had my first 8 months ago and I waited to see what it felt like and when I got to a point where I understood that my body was NOT going to endure the pain the rest of the way (for 7 more hours mind you!) then I said "epidural please" Oh boy was it nice to take a nap after that (we had been up since 11:45pm when my water broke. She was born at 3:30 pm the next day!!!!!)

I went 9 hours AWWWW-natural until I realized I would never get my tooth pulled without Novocain so what am I thinking pushing the basketball I swallowed out my VA-Jay Jay! EPIs are Gods way of telling you he loves you! It was all for not though cause 30 hours later they gave me a c-section!!! But hey now my lady parts aren't chimney like!

Tamn, waterbirthing is great. I did it with 2 of my 4 kids and it was amazing. My first was born with the epi and I decided after that, that I hate drugs. My 4th baby was supposed to be born at home in the blow up tub, but I had to be induced 2 days before because of my blood pressure, and so no waterbirth. :( Sorry, didn't film them and for sure didn't post them on youtube because I leave that for the hairy hippies to do. Have fun...can't wait to see what you decide. :)

Erin said...

i recommend you schedule c-section right this minute, PLUS a bonus tummy tuck when they sew you up.

but TELL everyone you did it natural and they'll never know.

Allison, placenta recipes? Mmm, I smell a cooking contest coming up! (And I just threw up a little looking a that link.)

Probably bring in it up in the next Relief Society lesson and see what everyone else does: whoever has the cutest kids, go with their method. That's probably the most sensible idea.

p.s. TAMNers, why the change a few weeks ago in how we post comments? No more name/URL option? That was my favorite.

Tamners... I just have to say, I am so in LOVE with your new play list. I totally Cannot get enuf of Utah's own American Idol, but xmas music just makes me think of the lord so much more, and plus, it makes my body jive a bit here at work, and we ALL know we could use the extra Calorie burning. LOVE IT!

I would totally say EPI. But with my twins I ended up having a c section because twin b didn't ever turn. I didn't want to do vag and c section. NOT FUN! I hope it all goes well and you can skip the c section all together. But EPI EPI EPI EPI!

Since JJWT is in Medical/dental/Law/Business school I bet he knows some other Med students that would totally deliver you FOR FREE. I hear the med students get extra credit when they practice stuff on real patients. Besides, I am sure your wholesome uterus and darling va-gee-gee have nothing to be ashamed about. So who cares if you show up to your husband's class and give birth in front of all his friends for an in class demonstration? It's better that talking JJWT into letting you have a homebirth. He'll get laughed right out of med school for that one.

Don't have any placenta recipes BUT our Doola told us that breast milk makes the creamiest Christmas fudge ever! Forrillz! Can't wait to share it at SuperSaturday next week.

Just visualize a pain free labor!!!!!!!!

To have a truly righteous birth experience, it's necessary to have all your friends over, read a lot of scripture, and have a professional videographer make a DVD that can be shown at RS and of course on You Tube. It is very important to have a youtube video of what will undoubtedly be the most perfect birth of the past 2000 years. I know that you will show all of us exactly how to do this perfectly... Love you !!! D. Harvey

Nat said...

HELLO?!?! Only in the world of the Hot N Righteous do Hypnobirthing...everybody who is ANYBODYis doing it. Then you get yourself one of those Deula's cuz no offense, we know that the boys will faint at the sight of needles...and then you get the epidural, and TELL everybody that you totally went natural. It's the only way to do it.

Lisa said...

This is a toughie! I mean, ya rilly want to stay the same "down there", so maybe a Caesar salad section might be just the thing. On the other hand, could you still ware those modest bikinis if you had a scar??

Dana said...

Okay, 1) forget all the nightmare stories you've heard about painful labor and what not. 2) Read HypnoBirthing by Marie Mongan. If it makes sense to you and you prepare ahead of time and believe in yourself, it will work. It is a billion times better than drugs. I've tried it both ways. It's better for your babies and you will feel like a Queen for the rest of your life.

Bingham Family said...

Get the epidural!!!! It's the only way to go, unless someone else was carrying your baby; but seeing as that is not the case, get doped up!!!!!

Anna Baer said...

enjoy the best of both worlds! Go as long as you can without the epi.. and then when you're really close to birthing time (and the most painful stage) get the epi!!! that way you can say you sort of had a natural birth but also enjoyed the blessings of the epi. Natural is cool - but the epi rocks!

CocoJ126 said...

EPI !!! You ask for it when you are thinking...hmmm when do I ask for my epi this is...(contraction...you squeeze the blood out of the someones hand you are holding then return to breathing and thinking) getting uncomfortable.

beck252 said...

OMG, TAMN - you HAVE to get an EPI. Like my DTD said, "you don't get your teeth pulled w/out novicane, do you?" All these natural-birth women are cah-razy. Who would not want to have a pain free birth?

My theory is that those natural crazies do this as punishment to themselves for not loving their bodies enough to shave their legs slash wear make-up slash have any fashion sense what-so-ever. So sad.

Your eBFF's will be praying for you! And sending you easy birth and cute-baby wishes (not like you'll need them). Coming from someone who has done it more than once... TAKE THE DRUGS. You'll will be a much better mom because of it.

TAMN, what did Eve, Mary, Sarah, Sariah, and the awesome moms of the strippling warriors do?
Earthy = more spiritual! Duh!!!

Lacey Freeman said...

My vote is for the EPI...all the way. Then you can be pain free and enjoy every minute of it!

Kathleen said...

I think you should have an epi AND do the earthy bathtub in the living room thing. That way you can be like twice as spirichul becuz you would be using anastasia and still being all natural. Since God made anastasia and nature, it would be like 2 times a richus, which is way awesome since you're having 2 times as many feti! Also, that way you could get a new super-cute super-modest bikini, and that would set a richus example for your feti to see as they come into the world, expeshully if they are girlz. Luv ya!

Danielle said...

I doubt you'll have ANY pain at all. The most PRECIOUS babies come PaIn free! Try to have your adorable feti in the car, a Highway Patrol personnel will deliver them for you, and you'll be all over the news! Instant FAMErs.

Nicole said...

I was totally afraid of the pain, glad the doc said I needed ceasar salad. The second one too. Loved them. No stretch marks by the way woooo hooooooooo.

ya, you'd better ask the dr. what you're "allowed" to do - because your only incidental, not vital tot he birth like he is.
