reason for the season

today i saw the saddest thing and it reminded me of that country song, you know, the one about Christmas.

There was this girl my age at the store and guess what she was wearing?

SHOES.

IT'S DECEMBER.

So sad. It was like she didn't even know it's cute boot weather.

You know what I think is sad? That your blog is playing Last Christmas by NSync when GLEE has a newer, cooler version at.

OMGosh! That is SO sad! Like the other day I saw a gurl who COULD of bin sooper-cute, but she had the HOOD on her HOODIE pulled up withOUT a cute flowered beanie and scarf! Sad!

Ew. She should know that wearing Ugg boots is really appealing. It makes me think of that Christmas song that I share as my visiting teaching message (seriously, service is the lamest topic. Enuf already!!!) about the boy who wants to buy his mom some Christmas shoes (which I think is old fashioned talk for boots) because the lady is dying. I used to think "wow, if your mom is on her deathbed, she definitely will not be needing boots and maybe you should be sitting by her side instead of singing this nauseating song" but then I had a mighty change of heart and I realized how PORTENT Christmas boots are, and how right the boy was to want his mom looking Hawt "if she meets Jesus tonight" -- thanks for reminding us to focus on the TRUE MEANING of Christmas.

Oh my gosh TAMN, I bet she didn't have a cute scarf on either. How embarassing.

*GASP* I sure hope you said something to her. You know that others might not be so kind!

Ew! That makes me sick.

Megan Gery said...

So did you buy her some boots, or are you just not as charitable as the man in the song? {frownsmile}

I'm so embarrassed that you saw me!!! I really need some cute boots.

Courtney said...

oh. that poor girl. Hopefully she saw your example and will find some cute boots and put the shoes on hold.

Ew. Were they flats?? Doesn't she know better?

abbyandcompany said...

They were probably white shoes, too.

I hope somebody tells her that there are different kinds of cute boots for this weather. Like the hooker boots you have to have for church ( at least BOTH black and brown) and the UGG boots for a casual/dressy outfit, and furry boots for the really dressy moments. Plus, somebody should tell her NEVER to wear ugly boots, like snow boots. GROSS¡ (That's an upside down exclamation marks, to denote the opposite of rightside up exclamation marks).

For a sec, I thought you were going to write that she was wearing crocs.

It IS the season. You should have gotten her address. Then you could have passed on the box of shoes that Lynzii gave you.

After two seasons they should go to someone who doesn't know the difference.

How sad! I just spent the last few hours boot shopping with my mother. All the while, I was wearing a pair of ADORABLE black furry boots. I even helped 2 different ladies at 2 different stores pick out boots. So sad that girl didn't have a friend like me. ;)

Ha, ha! I love this. The other day I told my husband I need to buy me some boots and then today, as I stood in 6-inch snow wearing my tennis shoes, I VOWED to buy myself some boots. . . though probably not the cute kind you are talking about. I tend to fall over in 'cute' shoes. I just want something water-proof.

Oh, so sad, I bet she wasn't even wearing a sassy scarf or sweater either, poor thing!

OMGoodness. Like, I used to live in Arizona, so we didn't even ever get to WARE boots, we were so sad that it was never cold enuff. Then I moved to Denver, and now I have like 8 pairs of boots and I would so never even wear shoes right now. So sad. What a looser.

kyle said...

You being the giving person you are I am surprised you didn't take off your boots and give them to her and walk in the snow bare foot. and to think I knew you.

Someone needs to buy her some Uggs.

Sasha said...

You so should have cute boots in your giveaway! Isn't anyone selling homemade versions on etsy?

Yea but Ugg stands for Uggly.

TAMN, I'd give her the benefit of the doubt. I bet she was wearing boots, maybe she was just wearing them INSIDE her pants.

So hilarious. I can't stop laughing!!!

Piper: "hooker boots at church"... seriously, SO TRUE!

Sad! Its prolly good that you didn't tell her she should get some cute boots, bc then you would have to tell her that she needs like 6 pairs {black and brown of each: uggs, sassy knee-hi hooker ones, and those knee-hi furry ones}and then she would need to get some skinny Trues {or at very least those overly-blingy knock-off ones you see at those boutiques}, and then if she gets those, she will have to get a super hawt cropped army green puffer jacket with a fur trimmed hood. And if she gets all that, she is basically committing herself to getting an mod knit cap with the lil brim, or an AWESOMER vintage cargo hat with a floor-dee-lee (is that how you spell it?!?) in rhinestones on the side, all sassy.

So that convo seriously would have taken forever. Good thing you kept on shopping.

incognito said...

Maybe she couldn't afford them. You should have sang to her "fa la la la la ka-ching."

debbie said...

I couldn"t choose between the uggs and the way cute "leather laces wrapped-around" boots and the super fun cowgirl boots, so I put them all on layaway, and shared with my hubbernugget where he could find me some excellent Christmas gifts. It's such a joy to help loved ones at this time of year, sents he has no time for shopping with school and everything. I totally can fill the true reason for the season.

anna said...

what a gosh dang disgrace! you should seriousy hook her up with some adorable style tips.

Unknown said...

Maybe she is like me. Calf muscles bigger than any mans on earth ( except for her brothers) and therefore the stupid boots she longs to wear refuse to zip up over them.
I hate my life.

Amy said...

Bwahahahahaha!

Kristen said...

If you're gonna buy boots for anyone, buy them for Ruth so her feet have a chance to look cute before her preggo condition makes her resort to ugly crocs.

Unknown said...

I have huge calf muscles too, from my dad, and it just means you have to be super diligent going to the mall every couple of days and trying on every boot in the whole place, and you will find one. Also only buy real leather boots (sorry peta people) so they give a little. I love boot season! Oh, and that song is the most depressing song I have ever heard, I couldn't bear to listen to it!

Unknown said...

Oh, and I forgot to add that I my legs are NOT FAT... I am a marathon runner/triathlete/mountain bike racer, and was back racing while by babies were still nursing.

Jeannie said...

*sigh* I used to come up with funny, witty comments for you TAMN, but you are too funny now for me to come up with anything even close.

BENVANA said...

LOL! that song makes my husband cry every time

Malea said...

I'm hoping she made up for it with a natural yarn knitted headband/earmuff.

Valinda said...

I live in Vegas and wore sandals without a coat, scarf or beanie today. Does that mean I'm going to be kicked off your blog and unfriended on facebook?

Sarah Schulz said...

Oh come on, TAMN, you know you can wear shoes in the winter if they are rilly super high hills with oober cute black tights and a skirt.

I would wear boots, but I have clogger calves that won't fit in boots. So I wear what I can. But you never have this problem because I'm sure you stay skinny doing some activity that doesn't involve calves so you can still wear boots in the winter time. And that's why you're TAMN and I'm not. (You know, along with a million other things.) *sigh*

Mickelle said...

TAMN! Do you REALIZE you have less than 4 months to plan the twins' first birthday party?!? I can't believe you haven't blogged it yet. And I KNOW you haven't sent out save-the-dates because I've been checking my mail!

Is each one getting their own party? Have you decided on a sick theme yet? And shouldn't you be practicing so the cake on the real day looks perfect?

bwa ha ha!!! I actually pulled up this blog today because that song was stuck in my head and I thought the cheesiness needed some company.
