holy akward!

SO CRAZY!

Ran past Lynzii on my 10~mile run this morning and slowed waaay down to 9 min mile to tell her instead of co-chairs of activities committee, I had a prompting she should just be my assisstant, and what does she say?

SHE SAYS SHE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROMPTING ONLY OPPOSITE.

I thought I was the only one who knew the trick of getting your way by blaming promptings just like with Ryan and I's unengagement......noone ever used it on ME before.

Ummm, AWKWARD!

So unless one of us moves out, now we'll have to deal with this 1 of 2 ways: either an underground wardwide gossip campaign or a craft-off.

I sometimes fill promptings that tell me to say some kinda snarky things to people in the ward. I ALWAYS follow my promptings. I noticed that they always come when I am bored. Weird, huh?

Craft-off fer shur.

Angela said...

I vote for the craft-off! like a dance off, but more crafty! and gossipping isn't so rytcheous anyway. so. CTR and craft your way out of this debacle, baby!

I vote craft-off. Let's see what you've got.

Clearly you need to choose a new route for your morning run.

Kerry said...

noble of you to slow down to her ONLY 9 min mile pace.

I'm prompted to have a snack.

as much as I'd love to see you two in a glitter-flying craft-off, I think your wardwide gossip is waaaaay more effective....and it puts a little buzz in the air & makes the hallways more exciting @ church....kinda like high school.....

I know this is sort of like a boy, but it TOTALLY works. And it is the trump-trump card of spirituality.

What you need to do is out-read her. Not with the kind of books that Ruth reads - because I'm pretty sure philosophy is against the word of wisdom. Of course I'm talking about Deseret books. I don't know if you noticed this, but if someone reads a lot than everyone is obligated to listen to their counsel.

I know the books written by GAs are totally fat and not written in a cute way. So I don't suggest actually going page by page. Just go to the end of the chapters and read the summaries. Then you can allude to them in your talking.

It gets so confusing when two people try and pull the prayer trump card. So don't forget the trump-trump card: "The bretheren have said!"

Though on second thought (scary, I'm getting up there), I'm pretty sure it's OK to play that card without actually reading what the bretheren say. I've known three relief society presidents and seven bishops who did that so it has got to be OK.

Plan C. Plan two rival activities on the same day and ask the same people to help you so everyone has to choose between you.

Love this! One of my top 5 Mormon pet peeves is blaming everything on the spirit. I would also go with a craft off. So much cuter than anything else.

Mother in Zion said...

Def the craft off. I bet you have more glitter than her, so you'd totally win.

Craft off! TAMN, this is totally one of my favorite posts ever now. Wow.

You could fake a debilitating illness, ask to be released to cope with polio or whatever, and then go around the ward delivering cookies so everywhere you stop people will marvel at how you selfless you are, still serving at a time like this. As soon as you're magically cured of your illness by profound faith, they'll make you Relief Society President!

The running thing was fab. I'm so glad that you're way faster than 9 min miles. I would have thought much less of you otherwise.

You should totes go the passive aggressive gossip route. Be really nice to her face and then get on the phone and gather up your army that you can gossip with about how you should be the lead co-chair. Then Linzii will go to church and wonder why everyone is being nice to her but giving her strange looks. Making her feel self conscious will def bring her down a notch and she won't even know what spirit she was feeling.

Jessica said...

That's just crazy. Everyone knows you are more in tune with the spirit than she is, so CLEARLY you were prompted. She was just day dreaming.

But if it comes down to it, I vote a craft off. She'll never know what hit her!

TAMN - you spelled awkward correctly. What is up?

Brooke said...

So who will be the judge of this craft-off? How will you know who wins? (Please don't say by a prompting please don't say by a prompting please don't say by a prompting)

Acacia said...

Uh, helz no! You need to go to the Bish and cry while you bear your testimony of the truthfulness of YOUR prompting, and how wrong hers was! Then convince him, 'cause, you know, he has SO much time to deal with this kind of important stuff, and you can take as much time as YOU need in his office to cry about it, convince him that YOU know Heavenly Father wants YOU to be the entire Activitiez Comitee and Linz should be releesed. Don't know why you haven't tried this yet?!?!

Little Lovables said...

Holy crap, I was first, no need for a craft off or anything!

Now that is not bragging, but tender mercy right there. I so know what I'll be baring my testimony on next month.

Anna@Exasperation said...

As long as David Bowie is judging (not that I would ever JUDGE someone), you should most def craft off!

John Radford said...

So you really should do the gossip campaign on facebook, by hacking her account and then post a bunch of nasty (untrue of course, bc there nothing nasty about YOU.) stuff about yourself, and then take it to the Bishop and show him who really is the most Celestial and then ask for her dismissal and installation as the new nursery leader. That should take care of this little problem.

Olivia Meikle said...

Well, TAMN, since everyone in your ward went to high school with you, you can easily crank up the old gossip mill quickly enough to nip this in the bud. Nobody out-manipulates TAMN.

This isn't even a question. It's obviously the gossip one.

Allison Stuart said...

I'd say go with the gossiping. Its less likely you'll glue your fingers together. However, if you need to score some CTR points I guess you'll have to break out the glue gun.

So impressed you can do a 10 mile run outside, in January, on a THURSDAY!!! I bet you had your adorable kiddos all bundled up in your double jogger and STILL had to slow WAY down to a 9 min mile pace. You are the best. Craft off for sure!

Anna said...

hahaha, I would have liked to see this "encounter" irl. Both of you fake-smiling, huffing and puffing, gears a cranking in your bump-it hair, truly a scene for the next LDS culture low-budget film.

Ru said...

Um, I'm kinda embarrassed I have to tell you this, but the answer is neither.

You need to continue as co-chairs for now. Whenever you guys do something, make sure you give her ALL the credit in big crowds, but then every time you're one-on-one with a wardie, make sure you tell them that really you did everything, you're very concerned that "something's going on with Linzii" and please keep it to themselves, but she really needs to be fellowshipped, which is the only reason you ever would have white-lied about her less-than-stellar efforts. Then you'll look charitable and awesome.

Six months later, Linzii will be released to work on her "something."

You're welcome.

Elizabeth Downie said...

CRAFT OFF! And post pictures! She has no idea how much glitter glue, puff paint, boas, and feathers you have. She won't know what hit her.

WhiteEyebrows said...

This blog is so 2009.

One of my favorite posts fer sure!

Why be satisfied with UNDERGROUND gossip? Here's what to do: Post signs all over your ward boundaries (all one block of them) that say, "Vote for Lynzii for Activities Chair". Then, the Bish will have to call her in to talk about inappropriate campaigning and as a result, she'll be demoted to your assistant so she can learn the 'order' of things.

Make the signs crafty -- and then you've done both the gossip route and the craft off!

No to the craft-off: Glitter is the herpes of creativity. But yes to the gossip chain, and double yes to planning a rival event the night she has something social going on. And also, I might be prompted to tell her that her butt looks huge in those modest running pants.

Mrs. Clark said...

Best comments ever.

TAMN, why haven't you blogged about the 'Lympics this time? Didn't JJWT freak watching Shaun White win the half-pipe?

wittygal said...

The spirit is prompting me to tell you not to gossip (to much), it's bad news. Might get you yelled at in halls between Sacrament and Sunday School. If not yelled at definitely dirty looks from her and her BFF's. However, sounds like (no offense) she may kick your butt at a craft off. I guess you could practice before the competition and hope for a Super Saturday to give you the push you need to really be prepared. Good luck!!

What did you give up for lent this year TAMN????

Cascia Talbert said...

Sounds like you are in a tough spot. So what did you decide to do? I'd vote for the craft-off.

mhcs said...

No way TAMN, the "I made a decision that sux for you but I'm gonna blame it on deity" is only mankind's second-oldest invention, right after making a long-term contract of prostitution and calling it marriage. Not that YOU would know anything about THAT one.

LOL j/k, you know I love you TAMN!
