holy narsi-cyst

You know how my frumpy yawn of a SIL red-flag Ruth was all selfish in getting preggo when she KNEW we were trying??? Well, honestly I can't believe the gawl she has. She's having a baby shower this weekend! Even though JJWT is graduating AND we are thinking about moving AND I have a hair appt!! If I weren't so nice I seriously wouldn't even go, talk about stilling our thunder.

Rude!

I wouldn't go, TAMN! But you are a much better person than I am. She totally did that on purpose just to ruin things for you. I can't believe some people. That is just so rude.

I hate stilling. So wrong.

TAMN - think of all the opportunities to show off your "I'm-a-photog" pictures during the shower. All the family will be gathered and they will totally want to see all 1000 shots you take of JJWT (and you) graduating. Maybe you can make a flip-book and make sure everyone sees it!

Ummm...it's "stilling are thunder".

Unbelievable!!!! Good thing you have like 5 trips planned to celebrate graduation where you can go relax!!!

Just make sure you go with awesome hair and give a bigger/better/creativer gift than anyone else. That'll show 'em. Oh, and don't forget to give tonz of advice, since you're the more experienced mother. Never let her forget that.

This reminds me of my favorite Confucius saying ever: If someone stills your thunder, crank up the lightning and make them regret it.

I am so sorry about how selfish she is. Its nice that you have a PERFECT excuse not to go -- graduation! He has to go to his department and the whole school and his photoshoot! Honestly, what a relief not to have to see what granola-y stuff she gets like reusable diapers.

Bring the twins in the cutest outfits they have...and gift her baby clothes that look only so-so and people will totally know it's because you had better things to do that weekend then shop for baby gifts.

Um HELLO! I think your graducation was planned years before her baby. I'm pretty offended that she would even think of having a baby close to the graduation time. Could she not have just asked first. Some people.

I wouldn't go. But you should totally send a present. How about some wooden letters that are painted in colors that YOU think are cute (that clash with their nursery) for the name that YOU think is distinctive. (Not the one they have picked out.) Write a note: "Just so concerned about my niece/nephew. Would hate to have to be seen with a social worker if I have to call CPS."

Service ROCKS.

....and to top it off - the chillin' will probably be super cute - what's with that?

I bet she didn't even ask you if it was a good weekend for you. Totally selfish!

MaryBeth made me LOL! Frills!

I can't believe how SELFISH Ruth is!!! It's like she never thinks about other people. UGH!!!

Is your hair appt before the shower??? Cause you could walk in totally hawt and with super big hair while she's all frumpy with a super big belly. You should also give her 6 months clothes and tell her it's because there's no way whatever is inside her could possibly be dainty enough for newborn clothes.

Frau is right, service DOES rock!!!

Whether you go or not, this is the perfect chance to do SERVICE and donate last season's baby clothes to Ruth. I guarantee they're probably a million times cuter then those organic cotton onesies she registered for.

give that baby a good start in life...it's not her fault Ruth will be her mom. Take her to get those darling little early lobes pierced ASAP. best shower gift ever. she'll be way cuter than she woodve been but never quite reach Prince Alivia's status.

I was going to suggest regifting some of the clothes that were too ugly to put on the twinsies, but I think Kristen's idea is even better.

She's obviously jealous that she's still in Law/biz/med/dental school and you (and JJWT) aren't anymore. Just be the better person, TAMN. Go to her shower and shower her with intangible presents, like a free sitting fee for her baby's first photo shoot, or a night with the twins to prepare her for motherhood (not that her kid will ever be as EASY as yours). Don't forget to mention that you didn't have time to actually shop because she planned this shower on the busiest/most exciting weekend of your life.

Ohh Tamns that is the worst! I am so sorry to hear that a friend could be so inconsiderate! Hang in there!!

You should totes go to the shower. And bring her all your old maternity clothes, because it's obvious she doesn't fit hers anymore. (And make sure she knows you wore size 5, clothes, NOT Maternity size 5, just before you delivered your twins. My sil did that for me. I couldn't wear size 5 before I was preggo, let alone at eight months.)

I have learned from my mistakes in the past, that it is better to go support family even if they do things that do not make you happy one bit. You don't want to ruin any realtionships with family. Once you do it takes a while to earn their love back. Go support her she will thank you for it later.

Tamn, you are seriously such a giving person!! So giving of your time and your energy.

She is so lucky to have a SIL like you, that is always just ready to give of herself even if its the most inconvenient time!!

I wish you were my SIL!!

TAMNers, whosever planned that shower, not to stand up for Ruth, but really, should get the blame. R wouldn't be so rude as to plan her OWN shower, and on this weekend, would she? Yah I think your barking up the wrong frump here.
