the heighth of my standards

Ugh, Total sign a the times is that you can't trust movie ratings anymore, for reals! Personally I'm ok with edited R but honestly just PG and PG13 is such garbage and my mind is not a trash recepticle.

Serious!

Luckly found a super easy solution! I put the PG and PG-13 movies on for Tridger and Alivyiah while I do my hair but as for me and my eyes, I don't watch just to be safe then if they scream or cry or hit e/o after then we know its inapropriate and no longer allow it in our home is where we hang our heart. Yea!

heighth. One of my biggest grammar pet peeves. Excellent.

You're so right to have your kidlets screen your movies. After all, they will hear from their friends what movies are bad. And if they slip up, they're not baptized yet, so it doesn't matter.

Ya know, I really never understood why more righteous parents don't take advantage of the get-out-of-jail-free card that is the years of pre-accountability. This way, their baptisms will be extra special.

Sounds like the safest and most practical solution, and way over the top logical! (too funny)

That is perfect, because they are not accountable.

What a great system! You are {So InSpIrEd}! Srsly tho, we were watching a PG movie with the kiddos and I was APAULDED at one of the lines! I had told my hubby that I wanted to screen it but he was "sure it would be fine." Now I have that filth stuck in my head - I could have just let the kids hear it! UGH! You are such an inspirashun!

At our home my hubby has his own ratings scale

G = Good
PG = Pretty Good
R = REALLY Good

Didn't know before I married him that he'd ever watched rated R's or I'd never have done it for ETERNITY!

Still lurv him tho ;)

Okay, I know this is satire, but no one actually does this, right? Please no?

If someone else is watching it and you aren't the primary watcher, it doesn't count. At least that's what my bred-in-Zion-and-more-righteous-than-me roommate told me when I didn't fast-forward the sparkling scene in Twilight. That way you can keep up with culture without lowering your standards.

And they might as well get those movies in when they're little. They'll have plenty of time for exclusively watching/reading children's media when they're adults to prove how childlike/smokin' hot they are. Nothing is sadder than a previously righteous seminary student who turns 18 and reads/watches stuff that actually realistically portrays being an adult.

Is this the same reason you take the twinsies to action movies or thrillers and keep them there through the whole movie, even when they cry and scream that they're scared?

(Or are you just not willing to shell out for a babysitter?)

I'm pretty sure my 13yo has recovered from being terrified all through the Chamber of Secrets movie when he was little--although he still won't watch the Harry Potter movies, even though he's read all the books. He says he's just not interested in the movies.

I love the last horrible run-on sentence + warm fuzzy cliche... "not appropriate for our home is where we hang our hearts." hahaha

I hope you remember to let them eat Red Vines and chocolate the whole time too.

Tamners - I totally identify with your supr InLightenedmint - I had this similar sooper dooper idea a few moons ago but what I did was Envite the neighbor kids over to watch the movies first so that my own kids would not be tainted by the Weevil Eevil-ness of "hollywood" syndrome. My spritely spirited springoffs are way too precious - better to inflickt that kind of trauma on other kids , not your own precious luvskins. Lurvs yaz!

well one of the ladies I know uses the heavy rated movies to 'teach' their children about wrong choices and bad things in life (like drugs, violence, s-x...) I know 'cuz she announced it in relief society!

I can just imagine it "Hey kids, for fhe tonight, we are going to watch silence of the lambs, then talk about the dangers of being physcotic!"

I guess we should stop watching Thomas the Train then cuz my kids are always yelling and hitting after. Come to think of it, my hubby usually does the same thing after a chick flic.

Jonny and Carissa - thank you for addressing the heighth of Tamny's hair... something she has failed? to do, right? I meant that hot ratsnest that poofs out of nowhere on the top/back of your head - why won't you address that? are you a zionhater, or what?

It takes you the time of a full length feature film to do your hair?!?

When our stake president's kids were pre-teens their momma used two VCR's to play/record and sanitize several moovies. The kids invited their young friends over to watch the cleaned up moovies, and the friends knew every word that was missing.
